Jay Richardson (American Football)
Jay Richardson (born January 27, 1984) is an American former professional football linebacker. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he majored in African Studies. He was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL draft and played for the team for three seasons. He was also a member of the Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, and New Orleans Saints. Early life He played high school football for Dublin Scioto High School in Dublin, Ohio. Professional career Oakland Raiders Richardson was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL draft and played for the team for three seasons. Seattle Seahawks Richardson was placed on injured reserve before the start of the 2010 NFL season. He became an unrestricted free agent following the season. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and typically line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and so back up the defensive linemen. They play closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary). As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). Keyunta Dawson (born September 13, 1985) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker and defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL draft with the 242nd overall pick. Dawson played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. College career At Texas Tech University, Dawson played defensive end for the Red Raiders. Professional career After spending his first four seasons with the Colts, Dawson signed with the Detroit Lions. He was released by the Lions on September 3, 2011. The exact name of the list varies by league; it is known as "injured reserve" in the National Football League (NFL) and National Hockey League (NHL), the "injured list" in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and the injured list (historically known as the "disabled list") in Major League Baseball (MLB).
