Jason Palmer (prison Guard)
Jason Palmer (c. 1977 – 16 May 2010) was a United States-born former Marine and the first corrections officer in New Zealand to die while on active duty. He was punched by an inmate, fell, and struck his head on the floor. He died in hospital the following day. Biography Born in South Carolina, Palmer attended Jefferson High School in West Virginia before serving four years in the United States Marine Corps, including time at Quantico Marine Corps base. He met a New Zealand woman, Tracy, online and moved to New Zealand. The couple married a year after meeting. At the time of his death, he was survived by Tracy and their three children: Taylor, 15; Riley, 5; and Abbey, 3. Death Palmer worked at the Spring Hill Corrections Facility. He was killed by inmate Latu Savelio Halangingie Kepu while unlocking Kepu's cell with two other officers. Judith Anne Collins (born 24 February 1959) is a New Zealand politician who has served as the attorney-general and minister of defence since 27 November 2023. She served as the leader of the Opposition and leader of the New Zealand National Party from 14 July 2020 to 25 November 2021. Killer Beez (gang)
The Killer Beez (Killa Beez) are a large street gang based in New Zealand, mainly based in the South Auckland area. They were founded in 2003, as a large rogue street gang in Ōtara, as a spin-off of the larger "Tribesmen" gang. The Killer Beez were formerly headed by Josh Masters, a well-known kickboxer, also a former vice-president of the Tribesmen MC. In 2013, there were 138 members in prison, up from 96 in 2011. Most Killer Beez inmates housed in Mt Eden Corrections Facility are housed in the Delta Unit. Auckland Prison (original name Paremoremo Prison, colloquially Pare, pronounced "Par-re") is a prison facility consisting from minimum security to maximum security units based in Paremoremo, Auckland, New Zealand. The units are separated but located close together in a rural area. There are eighteen adult prisons in New Zealand. Three prisons house women, one each in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
