The is a politician membership which promotes exchange and friendship between Japan and South Korea. The Union is the successor group to the former , assuming its current name in 1975. The chairman since 2023 is former prime minister Yoshihide Suga and the secretary general is Akihisa Nagashima. Yoshihide Suga
is a Japanese politician who served as Prime Minister of Japan and President of the Liberal Democratic Party (Liberal Democratic Party (Japan), LDP) from 2020 to 2021. He had served as Chief Cabinet Secretary during the second administration of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe from 2012 to 2020. During Abe's first administration, Suga served as Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications from 2006 to 2007. Born to a family of strawberry farmers in rural Akita Prefecture, Suga moved to Tokyo after graduating from high school, where he enrolled in Hosei University. Akihisa Nagashima
is a member of the House of Representatives of Japan as well as a visiting professor at Chuo University's Graduate School of Public Studies. He served as the Parliamentary Vice Minister of Defense in the Kan Cabinet. Early life and education Nagashima was born on February 17, 1962, in Yokohama-City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Nagashima received his B.A. in Law in 1984, his B.A. in Government in 1986, and his Master of Laws (LL.M) from Keio University in 1988. He received his M.A. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in 1997. Politics Of Japan
The politics of Japan are conducted in a framework of a dominant-party bicameral parliamentary representative democratic constitutional monarchy. A hereditary monarch, currently Emperor Naruhito, serves as head of state while the Prime Minister of Japan, currently Shigeru Ishiba since 2024, serves as the elected head of government. Legislative power is vested in the National Diet, which consists of the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors.
