The Japanese women's national under 18 ice hockey team is the national under-18 ice hockey team of Japan. It is organized by the Japan Ice Hockey Federation. The team represents Japan at the International Ice Hockey Federation's U18 Women's World Championship and other international tournaments and events. IIHF World Women's U18 Championship
The IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, officially the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championship, is an annual ice hockey tournament for national women's under-18 (U18) ice hockey teams, administered by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It is the junior edition of the IIHF Women's World Championship and participation is limited to female ice hockey players under 18 years of age. History A qualification tournament was held in 2007 to finalize divisional placement and the inaugural championship was held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in January 2008. The United States' national team won nine of sixteen championships and never ranked lower than third place. The Canadian national team has won eight gold medals, seven silver medals and one bronze. The 2018 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship Division I was three international under-18 women's ice hockey tournaments organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Divisions I A, I B and I B Q represented the second, third and fourth tier of competition at the 2018 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship. Division I Group A The Group A tournament was held in Asiago, Italy from 8 to 14 January 2018. Having just been relegated to Division I in 2017, Japan entered the tournament with something to prove, handily winning all five matches in regulation and reclaiming their place in the Top Division. The 2017 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship was the tenth IIHF U18 Women's World Championship in ice hockey. The tournament was played in Přerov and Zlín, Czech Republic. 2016 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship – Division I
The 2016 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship Division I and 2016 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship Division I Qualification were a pair of international under-18 women's ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Division I and Division I Qualification tournaments made up the second and third level of competition at the 2016 IIHF World Women's U18 Championships respectively. The Division I tournament took place between 10 January and 16 January 2016 in Miskolc, Hungary. The tournament was won by Japan who gained promotion back to the Championship Division for 2017 while Denmark finished last and was placed in the newly formed Division I Group B tournament for 2017. 2015 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship
The 2015 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship was the eighth IIHF U18 Women's World Championship. The top division tournament was played in Buffalo, United States, from 5 to 12 January 2015. Twenty nations played in three levels, with promotion and relegation for the top and bottom teams at each level. The United States won their fourth title defeating Canada in overtime in the gold medal game, with Jincy Roese scoring on the power play. This was the eighth consecutive final between the two nations, evening their all-time records. The bronze medal game was also a rematch from the previous year, this time the Russians defeated the Czechs earning their first ever medal at this level. 2013 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship – Division I
The 2013 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship Division I final tournament was played in Romanshorn, Switzerland, from 2 to 8 January 2013. Japan won the tournament and after two years in Division I they returned to the Top Division. Qualification tournament The qualification tournament was played in Dumfries, Great Britain, from 27 October to 1 November 2012. The top two teams, France and Slovakia, were promoted to Division I of this year, but starting in 2014 one team will be promoted from the qualification tournament and will wait until the following year (2015) to play in Division I. The 2012 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship Division I tournament was the fourth Division I tournament of the U18 Women's World Championship in ice hockey to be organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
