Jan Grabowski (speedway Rider)
Jan Grabowski (27 May 1950, Myślibórz, Poland – 13 February 2017, Zielona Góra) was a Polish speedway rider. Biography From 1970 to 1980, he represented Falubaz Zielona Góra. He, with the team, twice won bronze medals at the Team Speedway Polish Championship in 1973 and 1979. After the end of his active career, he began working as a youth coach in Zielona Góra. In 1985, he became the trainer premier of Falubaz and in the same season he won with his team the title of Team Speedway Polish Championship. Falubaz won another medal, a silver medal, coached by him in 1989. During his coaching career, he also led, among others, ŻKS ROW Rybnik and KM Ostrow Wielkopolski, KM Ostrów Wielkopolski from November 2010 to his death. He was the first coach of, among others, Piotr Protasiewicz, a multiple medal-winning international speedway rider. Grabowski died in 2017, at the age of 66. Myślibórz (pronounced ; german: Soldin; csb, Żôłdzëno) is a town in northwestern Poland, in West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is the capital of the Powiat of Myślibórz (powiat myśliborski), with a population of 11,867. Falubaz Zielona Góra is a Polish speedway team based in Zielona Góra who currently races in 1. Liga. The club has won Polish Speedway League seven times (latest in 2013). ŻKS ROW Rybnik, also known as ROW Rybnik, is a Polish motorcycle speedway team based in Rybnik which currently competes in Extraleague (1st division). ROW Rybnik is one of the oldest and most successful teams in Polish speedway. There is a historical link to the football team Energetyk ROW Rybnik, both using the name ROW, but otherwise the clubs are completely independent of each other. Piotr Protasiewicz (born 25 January 1975 in Zielona Góra, Poland) is a Polish international speedway rider. Career He has ridden for the Polish national team in the Speedway World Cup in 1996 and 2005. He was also World U-21 Champion in 1996. In October 1997, during the Speedway Grand Prix Qualification he won the GP Challenge, which ensured that he claimed a permanent slot for the 1998 Grand Prix.
