James Taylor
James Vernon Taylor (born March 12, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. A six-time Grammy Award winner, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Taylor achieved his breakthrough in 1970 with the single " Fire and Rain" and had his first hit in 1971 with his recording of " You've Got a Friend", written by Carole King in the same year. His 1976 '' Greatest Hits'' album was certified Diamond and has sold 12 million copies in the US alone. Following his 1977 album '' JT'', he has retained a large audience over the decades. James Wickes Taylor
James Wickes Taylor (1819–1893) was born in Starkey, New York, and, after his formal education, studied law under his father. He was admitted to the bar in Ohio in 1843 and in 1846 established the ''Cincinnati Morning Signal'' newspaper while taking an active role in politics. He enjoyed a varied and successful career on a number of fronts in business and government. He functioned as a special agent with the US Treasury Department from 1859 to 1869. His experience there led to his appointment as United States Consul in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, in 1870, a position he held until his death. Taylor spent the majority of his career advocating for the United States, through negotiation, military force or trade, to take the interior plains north of the 49th parallel, particularly the lands west of the Red River settlements along the Saskatchewan Valley. James Knox Taylor
James Knox Taylor (October 11, 1857 – August 27, 1929) was Supervising Architect of the United States Department of the Treasury from 1897 to 1912. His name is listed '' ex officio'' as supervising architect of hundreds of federal buildings built throughout the United States during the period. Early career The son of H. Knox and Mary (Young) Taylor, he was born in Knoxville, Illinois, and attended schools in Minnesota. He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was a classmate of William Martin Aiken, who would precede him in the position of Supervisory Architect, and Cass Gilbert. After graduation, he worked in the New York City office of Charles C. Haight and later with Bruce Price. James Craig Taylor
James Craig Taylor (September 23, 1826 – October 25, 1887) was a Virginia lawyer, newspaper publisher and politician who became the Attorney General of Virginia as Congressional Reconstruction ended. After serving in the Confederate States Army and the Virginia Senate (1863–1865), James C. Taylor won the first statewide postwar election on July 6, 1869, defeating Thomas R. Bowden who had won election four years earlier when many former Confederates were precluded from voting, or chose not to vote. Taylor later won election to the Virginia House of Delegates and served part-time for one term before losing to the man he had defeated. James Andrew Taylor (September 8, 1835February 15, 1906) was an American businessman, Democratic politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was the first mayor of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and represented Chippewa County for three terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography James A. Taylor was born September 8, 1835, in the town of Argyle, New York. As a young man, he moved to Lansing, Iowa, then came to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, in 1854. He worked for the merchant company H. S. Allen & Co., clerking aboard their steamboat during the summers, and in their stores in the winters. In 1856, he formed a partnership with Fred H. Bussy to open his own general store. He served as village treasurer for two terms in 1858 and 1859. He constructed the Gravel Island mill in 1864, which he sold to the French Lumbering Company in 1875. James G. Taylor (born February 5, 1966) is an American politician who served as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives for the 12th district from 1994 through 2004 and New Mexico Senate for the 14th district from 2004 to 2008. Career Taylor was elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives in 1994. In 2004, Taylor was appointed to the New Mexico Senate. James Arthur Taylor (18 June 1817 – 14 June 1889) was a British Conservative politician. Taylor was the eldest son of James Taylor of Moseley Hall, Moseley, Worcestershire and Louisa née Skeye, daughter of Samuel Skeye of Spring Grove, Worcestershire. He was first educated at Winchester School, and was admitted as a pensioner and then matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge in 1835 and 1836 respectively. He was elected Conservative MP for at the 1841 general election and held the seat until 1847 when he did not seek re-election.
