James Robison (born October 11, 1946) is an American novelist, short story writer, poet and screenwriter. The author of ''The Illustrator'' (1988) and ''Rumor and Other Stories'' (1985), his work has frequently appeared in ''The New Yorker'' and numerous other journals. He is a recipient of the Whiting Awards, Whiting Award for his short fiction and a Rosenthal Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He has held teaching posts at numerous universities across the United States, including the University of Houston and Loyola University Maryland. Biography Robison was born in Worthington, Ohio, in 1946. His father was a graphic artist and freelance illustrator in Columbus, Ohio. Robison attended Worthington High School from 1960-1964. James Robison (born October 9, 1943) is an American televangelist and the founder and President of the Christian relief organization Life Outreach International. Biography Early life and ministry Robison was born and raised in Pasadena, Texas. Robison's mother, Myra Wattinger, was a nurse. Robison has revealed that he was the product of rape and that his mother placed an ad in a newspaper for a couple to take care of him. He spent the first five years of his life with H.D. Hale, a local area pastor, and his wife who answered the ad and took Robison in. When he was five years old, his mother took him back, and eventually married the man who had raped her. Robison had a strained relationship with his biological father, who was an alcoholic, and whom he would wind up confronting in a violent manner at the age of 15.
