James Larkin
James Larkin (28 January 1874 – 30 January 1947), sometimes known as Jim Larkin or Big Jim, was an Irish republicanism, Irish republican, socialist and trade union leader. He was one of the founders of the Irish Labour Party (Ireland), Labour Party along with James Connolly and William O'Brien (trade unionist), William O'Brien, and later the founder of the Irish Worker League (a communist party which was recognised by the Comintern as the Irish section of the world communist movement), as well as the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union (ITGWU) and the Workers' Union of Ireland (the two unions later merged to become SIPTU, Ireland's largest trade union). Along with Connolly and Jack White (trade unionist), Jack White, he was also a founder of the Irish Citizen Army (ICA; a paramilitary group which was integral to both the Dublin lock-out and the Easter Rising). James Larkin (born 17 March 1963) is an English actor, most notable for his portrayal of the character Dylan in '' EastEnders'', Inspector Lapointe in Granada's ''Maigret (1992 TV series)'' and Tony Blair in the 2005 ''The Government Inspector''. Larkin was born in Surrey, and has also written for the screen. His works include '' Int. James Larkin (Independent Fianna Fáil)
James Larkin (22 August 1932 – 6 October 1998) was an Irish Gaelic footballer and politician. He won five Donegal Senior Football Championship medals with the St Eunan's club. He was nominated by the Taoiseach Charles Haughey to Seanad Éireann in 1982, he served until 1983. He was elected a member of the Letterkenny Urban District Council in 1967 and was chairman of the council on five occasions. Larkin was founder member of Independent Fianna Fáil. James Larkin Jnr (20 August 1904 – 18 February 1969) was an Irish Labour Party politician and trade union official. He was born in Liverpool, England, the eldest of four sons of James Larkin, trade union leader, and Elizabeth Larkin (née Brown), daughter of a baptist lay preacher from County Down. After the family's move to Dublin in 1909, James was educated at St. Enda's School, Rathfarnham, the only school that would accept the young Larkins owing to the reputation of their father. James endured much hardship as a child during the period of his father's intense union activity, including eviction from the family home in Auburn Street. He first stood for election as an Irish Worker League candidate at the September 1927 general election for the Dublin County constituency but was unsuccessful. James "Jim" Anthony Larkin (born June 16, 1949) is a Phoenix publisher and journalist, known for his influence in the alternative newspaper industry. He is largely responsible, along with business partner Michael Lacey (editor), Michael Lacey, for expanding the ''Phoenix New Times'' from its origins as an anti-Vietnam War weekly begun in Tempe, Arizona in 1970 into what became the nation's largest chain of alternative weeklies.
