James Allen Da Luz
James Allen da Luz (21 December 1938 – disappeared 24 March 1973 or 16 November 1977) was a Brazilian guerrilla and member of the far-left organization Palmares Armed Revolutionary Vanguard (VAR-Palmares), a group that participated in armed resistance against the military dictatorship in Brazil between 1964 and 1985. His death date is unknown and his remains were never delivered to his family. Life He was the son of Cassiano Diniz Filho da Luz and Rolandina Martins da Luz. One of the main militants of VAR-Palmares and a member of the Red Wing (the most radical subgroup of the organisation), Allen participated in many armed actions led by the guerrillas in that period. He went into exile in Uruguay and Cuba, but he returned to Brazil many times to take part in new acts against the military government. Buriti Alegre is a municipality in south Goiás state, Brazil. The population was 9,484 inhabitants (2020) in a total area of 897.4 km2. Buriti Alegre is a large producer of poultry products. Location and communications Buriti is located in the extreme south of the state between Morrinhos and Itumbiara. It is part of the Meia Ponte Microregion. The distance to the state capital, Goiânia, is 181 km. The distance to the important BR-153 highway is 26 km. The elevation is 620 meters above sea level. National Truth Commission
In Brazil, the National Truth Commission () investigated human rights violations of the period of 1946–1988 – in particular by the authoritarian military dictatorship that ruled Brazil from April 1, 1964 to March 15, 1985. The commission lasted for two years and consisted of seven members. Members of the commission had access to all government files about the 1946–1988 period and could convene victims or people accused of violations for testimony; although it wasn't mandatory for them to attend. On 10 December 2014, the commission issued a report with its findings. The report identified the participation of 337 agents of Brazilian government involved in human rights violations, including arbitrary prisons, forced disappearings, torture and subsequent death of political opponents to the dictatorship.
