Jama'atu al-I'tisam bil-Kitab wa’l-Sunnah (, ), more commonly known as Jama'at Al-I'tisam (, ) is a Somali people, Somali Islamic Salafi movement, Salafi organization and missionary group founded in 1996. The organization emerged from the merger of two previous movements: Al-Itihaad al-Islamiya, Al-Ittihad al-Islami, established in 1983, and the Islamic Salvation Movement (Al-Tajammu' al-Islami lil-Inqadh), founded in 1993. It is considered one of the largest Islamic movements in East Africa, known for its comprehensive reformist approach. The group aligns itself with Salafi methodology in theology and reasoning, incorporating da’wah (Islamic preaching), reform, and social transformation into its mission. Ali Warsame
Sheikh Ali Warsame Hassan (, ) was a Somali Islamic cleric, preacher, and scholar of Dawah, credited with being one of the first scholars to introduce the Salafi Da'wah to Somalis. He was among the most prominent of Somali scholars. A founder and emir of Al-Ittihad Al-Islamiya, he later broke ties with the group, becoming a leading figure of Jama'at al-I'tisam (''Ictisaam'') in 1996, a reformist, non-militant group. Biography Sheikh Ali Warsame was born in 1939/1940 in the outskirts of Ainabo, in the Sarar region of Somaliland. Ahmed Haji Abdirahman
Ahmed Haji Abdirahman Mohamed (, ; 1957—2011) was a Somali Clergy, cleric, preacher and Ulama, Muslim scholar. He was one of the leading scholars of Somalia and the vice president of East Africa University and one of its founders. He was a member of the Association of Somali Scholars, the most prominent theorists of the Salafist movement in Somalia. Abdinasir Haji Ahmed Yusuf (; born 1957–2022 ) was a Somali cleric and Islamic preacher for Dawah. Sheikh Abdinasir was assassinated by Al-Shabab in Kismayo, on 22 February 2022.
