Jacob Bailey (author)
Jacob Bailey (16 April 1731 – 26 July 1808) was an author and clergyman of the Church of England, active in New England and Nova Scotia. Biography Bailey was born in Rowley, Massachusetts, and was educated at Harvard College, ranked at the bottom (by social order) of the class of 1755, which notably also included John Adams. He started his career in the ministry as a Congregational preacher in New Hampshire but converted and became an Anglican clergyman in 1760, through his connection with Dr. Silvester Gardiner, a prominent Massachusetts physician, businessman, and landowner. Gardiner, also Anglican, sought a minister to serve the rural parish of Frankfort or Pownalborough (now Dresden, Maine, but then part of Massachusetts), which was part of the lands his business partnership, the Kennebec Proprietors, oversaw. Jacob Whitman Bailey (1811–1857) was an American naturalist, known as the pioneer in microscopic research in America.Makers of American Botany, Harry Baker Humphrey, Ronald Press Company, Library of Congress Card Number 61-18435 Biography Jacob Whitman Bailey was born in Auburn, Massachusetts on April 29, 1811, and in 1832 graduated at West Point, where, after 1834, he was successively assistant professor, acting professor, and professor of chemistry, mineralogy, and geology. At West Point he studied with John Torrey. He devised various improvements in the construction of the microscope and made an extensive collection of microscopic objects and of algae, which he left to the Boston Society of Natural History. Jacob Bailey Moore (31 October 1797 – 1 September 1853) was an American journalist, printer, newspaper editor and historical writer. Ancestors His ancestors emigrated to the United States from Scotland. His father, who had the same name, was a physician (born in Georgetown, Maine, 5 September 1772; died in Andover, New Hampshire, 10 January 1813). His father studied medicine, settled in Andover in 1796, and practised successfully till 1812, when he was appointed surgeon's mate in the U.S. Army. His father wrote verses and numerous newspaper articles, and composed several pieces of music that were published in Samuel Holyoke's ''Columbian Repository''. Jake Bailey (make-up Artist)
Jacob "Jake" Bailey (March 16, 1978 – October 23, 2015) was an American make-up artist and photographer. Early life Bailey attended Judge Memorial Catholic High School in Salt Lake City and graduated in 1996. Career Growing up in Salt Lake City, Bailey was a performer in numerous theatrical productions and developed an interest in makeup artistry while assisting set artists. He would become assistant to the Salt Lake City Opera's make-up designer and wig master. By the age of 18, Bailey had moved to New York City, where he perfected his technique at makeup counters and through apprenticeships with artists including Kevyn Aucoin and Pat McGrath. He would go on to collaborate with some of the top photographers in the fashion and entertainment industries including David LaChapelle, Tim Walker, Mark Seliger, Norman Jean Roy and Ellen von Unwerth, Bailey himself would then go on to also become a passionate photographer.
