"Jack and Jill" is a 1977 hit song by R&B vocal group Raydio. It was the first single from their debut album ''Raydio (album), Raydio'', and became an international top 10 hit. It reached number eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number six on the ''Cashbox (magazine), Cashbox'' Top 100. It reached number five in Canada, number four in Australia, and the top twenty in UK. It was the first of five U.S. top 10 singles by Ray Parker Jr. and/or Raydio. The song describes how "Jack" is lonely and so, in spite of his good intentions, wanders down the hill to find love elsewhere after being neglected by "Jill", who is seldom home. Raydio is an American funk and Rhythm and blues, R&B vocal group formed in 1977 by Ray Parker Jr., with Vincent Bonham, Jerry Knight, and Arnell Carmichael. In 1978 Charles Julian Fearing and Larry "Fatback" Tolbert joined the band, along with Darren Carmichael. Career 1970s and Raydio After securing a record deal, the group scored their first big hit in early 1978 with "Jack and Jill (Raydio song), Jack and Jill", which was taken from their self-titled debut album. Stargard was an American R&B, funk, and soul girl group. Overview At the group's inception Stargard's members were Rochelle Runnells, Debra Anderson, and Janice Williams. The vocal trio issued the " Theme Song from 'Which Way Is Up'" on the soundtrack of the 1977 feature film ''Which Way Is Up?'' The Norman Whitfield-penned track also was on Stargard's self-titled debut album released in 1978 on MCA Records. The album rose to numbers 12 & 26 upon the Top R&B Albums and Billboard 200 charts respectively. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created in 1995 on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Two parallel sets of charts are concurrently produced and published; one is on behalf of Belgium's mainly Dutch-speaking Flanders region, and the other catering to the nation's mainly French-speaking region of Wallonia.
