John Bailey (minister)
John Bailey or Baily (1644–1697) was an English dissenting minister, later in life in New England. Early life Bailey was, according to Cotton Mather, who preached his funeral sermon, born near Blackburn in Lancashire on 24 February 1644. He was the son of Thomas Bailey, member of the congregation of the Rev. Thomas Jolly at Altham, and later at Wymond House. Probably the former was the birthplace. Both are near Blackburn (Lancashire). His father was dissolute but his wife was pious. By his twelfth year John conducted family worship. He attended at first the Queen Elizabeth grammar school of Blackburn. The master was then Charles Sagar. Later he was placed under the theological tuition of the Rev. Dr. Thomas Harrison, nonconformist minister at Chester. He began to preach in his twenty-second year, but was not ordained until 1670. Being an Independent or congregationalist, he was exposed to malicious reports. He was arrested and imprisoned in Lancaster gaol for nonconformity ...

John Bailey (luthier)
John Bailey (1931–2011) was a British luthier who made and repaired guitars and other stringed instruments during the 1960s revival of English folk music and beyond. Bailey lived in London until 1972 when he moved to Dartmouth, Devon, Dartmouth in Devon. In the mid to late 1970s he moved back to London and for a time he was the Course Organiser of the Musical Instrument Repair Course (set up by Selwyn Jones, Paul Harvey and John Stone) at Merton College in Wimbledon. The demands of academic management however did not suit him and he was happiest when in the classroom passing on his skills to students. Hence in the late 70's he moved back to Dartmouth and he continued to make instruments there into the 1990s. John was originally a woodwork teacher at a school in Hendon and made instruments in his spare time. John Anthony Bailey (born June 4, 1947 – died November 13, 1994), also known as Jack Baker, was an American actor. Life John Anthony Bailey was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Bailey lived in San Francisco, California, during the early 1970s, where he attended Merritt College in Oakland, California, Oakland and performed in numerous stage and film productions. His performances included Richard Wesley's ''The Black Terror'', for John Cochran's Black Repertory West, J. E. John Bailey (solicitor)
Sir John Bilsland Bailey (5 November 1928 – 22 February 2021) was a British solicitor and public servant. Bailey was born in Eltham, London to Walter Bailey, who ran the Lord Derby pub opposite Woolwich Arsenal, and composer Ethel Edith Bilsland, who married secondly Sir Thomas George Spencer, a telecommunications executive. His first cousin was actor John Bailey. Bailey attended Eltham College and graduated from University College London with a law degree, and was later admitted as a solicitor in 1954. He was appointed an Under-Secretary in the Treasury Solicitor's Department in 1973, later serving as Legal Director of the Office of Fair Trading between 1977 and 1979, when he became Deputy Treasury Solicitor. He was promoted in 1984 to HM Procurator General and Treasury Solicitor, serving until 1988.
