Ivete Marli Appel da Silveira (born 28 May 1943) is a Brazilian teacher and politician who has been one of the senators from the state of Santa Catarina (state), Santa Catarina since 2022. She succeeded Jorginho Mello, who became the governor of Santa Catarina in 2023. She was the wife of former Santa Catarina governor and senator Luiz Henrique da Silveira. Jorginho Mello
Jorginho dos Santos Mello (born 17 August 1967) is a Brazilian politician, member of the Liberal Party (PL). He is the incumbent Governor of Santa Catarina and had served as Senator from 2019 to 2022. He resigned to run for the state governorship, being replaced by his substitute Ivete da Silveira (MDB). Mello is the Liberal Party state president. Career Mello was born in Ibicaré, Santa Catarina before moving 20 kilometers away to Herval d'Oeste as a child. The Brazilian Democratic Movement (, MDB) is a Brazilian political party. Luiz Henrique da Silveira (February 25, 1940 – May 10, 2015) was a Brazilian politician and lawyer. He represented Santa Catarina in the Federal Senate from 2011 to 2015. He was governor of Santa Catarina from 2003 to 2006 and 2007 to 2010. He was a member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party. He died of a heart attack on May 10, 2015, in Itapema.
