Ivar (Old Norse ''Ívarr'') is a Scandinavian masculine given name. Another variant of the name is Iver, which is more common in Norway. The Old Norse name has several possible etymologies. In North Germanic phonology, several of the elements common to Germanic names became homophonous. ''Ivar'' is a 2003 Indian Malayalam-language action crime thriller film written and directed by T. K. Rajeev Kumar and produced by Santhosh Damodharan under the banner Damor Cinema. The film is loosely based on the Hong Kong crime thriller ''Infernal Affairs''. Jayaram plays the protagonist and Biju Menon is the antagonist. The film also stars Bhavana, Siddique, Janardhanan and Rizabawa. The film was mostly shot in Steadicam by the cinematographer of the film Madhu Neelakandan, and was edited by Arun Kumar Aravind. IVAR is a brand of backpacks known for a patented ergonomic and organizational file-like design called the IVAR-LIFT Design. Ivarson launched IVAR in July 2006 from Marin County, California. Company background In 1998 Ian Ivarson conceived and designed an internal shelf system for backpacks with an aim to create better organization and weight distribution ergonomics. At the time, Ivarson was a high school student at Marin Catholic in Kentfield, California. Early prototypes were developed with a sewer in Berkeley, California, and eventually progressed to direct relationships with unionized factories in Asia. During early development, Ivarson also filed for patents. Until the actual launch of IVAR, development of the IVAR backpack was slow as Ivarson was a college student and student-athlete during most of that time. Ivar's is a seafood restaurant chain based in Seattle, Washington, United States, with operations in the Puget Sound region. Ivar's also owns the Seattle-based burger restaurant chain Kidd Valley. History Ivar's was founded in 1938 by Seattle folk singer Ivar Haglund. Having built Seattle's first aquarium on what is now Pier 54, he decided to add a companion fish and chips bar to feed his visitors. The bar was short-lived, however. On July 22, 1946, Haglund opened a new restaurant, Ivar's Acres of Clams, at the same location. The aquarium closed ten years later, but the restaurant remains. Ivar's has two other full-service restaurants: Ivar's Salmon House in Seattle's Northlake neighborhood, and Ivar's Mukilteo Landing in Mukilteo, Washington, next to the Washington State Ferries terminal. Ímar ( ; died c. 873) was a powerful Viking leader in Ireland and Scotland in the mid-late ninth century. He was the progenitor of the Uí Ímair dynasty, who would go on to dominate the Irish Sea region for several centuries. He was the son of the king of ''Lochlann'', identified in the non-contemporary ''Fragmentary Annals of Ireland'' as Gofraid of Lochlann, Gofraid.
