San Marco Regiment
The 1st San Marco Regiment (Italian: ''1° Reggimento San Marco''), located in Brindisi, is an amphibious formation of the Italian Navy. They are the Italian marines. The 185th Paratroopers Reconnaissance Target Acquisition Regiment "Folgore" (, abbreviated as: 185° RAO) is an Italian Army Italian special forces, special forces unit. The regiment is part of the Italian Army's infantry arm's Paracadutisti speciality and assigned to the Army Special Forces Command (Italy), Army Special Forces Command. The regiment was formed in 1941 as 1st Paratroopers Regiment and assigned, in September 1941, to the 185th Infantry Division "Folgore", Paratroopers Division. The division was intended to parachute onto Malta during the planned Operation Herkules, invasion of Malta. Alpini
The Alpini are the Italian Army's specialist mountain infantry. Part of the army's infantry corps, the speciality distinguished itself in combat during World War I and World War II.
