It's The Law
''It's the Law'' is a Television in Canada, Canadian legal information television series which aired on CBC Television in 1956. Premise Legal concepts and information were explained to average Canadians on this series. Each episode featured an explanation of a legal concept followed by its dramatic portrayal as a case. The show then concluded with further discussion of by a member of the Canadian Bar Association which supported CBC's production of the series. Cecil Wright, the University of Toronto's law dean, joined host Frank Peddie as a series regular. Actors Cec Linder, William Needles, Ed McNamara and Sandy Webster were featured in the dramatic segments. Scheduling This half-hour series was broadcast on Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. (Eastern) from 1 May to 26 June 1956. Cecil Wright
Cecil Augustus Wright (July 2, 1904April 24, 1967), often called Caesar Wright, was a Canadian jurist and law professor. He was among the first law professors to import the Harvard case method into Canadian legal education. He was also known for his confrontational and aggressive personality. Early life and education Cecil Augustus Wright was born in London, Ontario, on July 2, 1904, to Emily Rosena (Whitehall) and Thomas Augustus Wright. He received a BA from the University of Western Ontario in 1923, where he studied economics, history, and political science. In 1926, at age 22, he graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School. Career Wright taught at Osgoode from 1927. During this time he championed many reforms of the legal education system, and in particular favoured a greater role for classroom instruction over the existing apprenticeship model. Cecil Yekuthial Linder (March 10, 1921 – April 10, 1992) was a Polish-born Canadian film and television actor. He was Jewish and managed to escape Poland before the Holocaust. In the 1950s and 1960s, he worked extensively in the United Kingdom, often playing Canadian and American characters in various films and television programmes. In television, he is best remembered for playing Dr. Matthew Roney in the BBC serial '' Quatermass and the Pit'' (1958–59). In film, he is best remembered for his role as James Bond's friend, CIA agent Felix Leiter, in '' Goldfinger'' (1964).
