It's Nice To Be Back
"It's Nice to Be Back" is a song written by Benny Andersson and originally released by the Hep Stars. It was released as the B-side to their non-album single "Malaika" in April 1967, and was later released on their compilation album, ''Hep Stars, 1964-69!'', in 1982. The song would later be covered by Anni-Frid Lyngstad of ABBA (a band Hep Stars members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus are also a part of) and released as the second and final single for her debut studio album ''Frida'', released in March 1971. Background In 1967, The Hep Stars made their feature film, titled ''Habari Safari'', which shot in Nairobi but was never completed. Two songs resulted from this project: "Malaika" and "It's Nice to Be Back". The latter was intended for the closing song for the Hep Stars movie, upon their return to Stockholm. Hep Stars
The Hep Stars are a Swedish rock band formed in Stockholm in 1963. During 1965–1966 the band was the most successful of contemporary 1960s Swedish pop groups performing in the English language. Outside the Nordic countries the band is best known as a launching point for the keyboard player, lead guitar and composer Benny Andersson, who went on to enjoy worldwide success with ABBA. The band was founded by the drummer Christer "Chrille" Pettersson (3 November 1942 – 27 August 2006) and the bass guitarist Lennart "Lelle" Hegland (9 January 1943 – 13 April 2022) with the keyboard player Hans Östlund and the lead/rhythm guitarist-singer Jan "Janne" Frisk (29 November 1943). "No Sad Song" is a song written in 1971 by Carole King and Toni Stern. It was recorded by Australian singer-songwriter Helen Reddy, appearing on her album ''Helen Reddy'', released in November 1971. ''Anni-Frid Lyngstad'' is a compilation album of songs recorded by Anni-Frid Lyngstad, released by Emidisc in 1971, after Lyngstad ended her five-year contract with EMI's Swedish division. All songs on this album are included in the EMI compilation album '' Frida 1967-1972''. Background Overview The same year in 1971 that Lyngstad had had her first Svensktoppen number one, "Min Egen Stad", a Swedish language version of the Hep Stars track "It's Nice To Be Back Again", she did not renew her contract with EMI, and was signed to Polar Music to record her first single with the latter independent label. Lars Nils "Lasse" Berghagen (13 May 1945 – 19 October 2023) was a Swedish singer and songwriter. He represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1975 with the song "Jennie, Jennie". Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Recording Studios) is a music recording studio at 3 Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London. Malaika Nakupenda Malaika is a Swahili song written by Tanzanian artist, Adam Salim in 1945 and recorded for the first time by Kenyan musician, Fadhili William.
