It's All In The Game (song)
"It's All in the Game" is a pop song whose most successful version was recorded by Tommy Edwards in 1958. Carl Sigman composed the lyrics in 1951 to a wordless 1911 composition titled "Melody in A Major", written by Charles G. Dawes, who was later Vice President of the United States under Calvin Coolidge. It is the only No. 1 single in the U.S. to have been co-written by a U.S. Vice President or a Nobel Peace Prize laureate (Dawes was both). The song has become a pop standard, with cover versions by dozens of artists, including Cliff Richard whose version reached No. 2 in the U.K. in 1963. Edwards' song ranked at No. 47 on ''Billboard''s 2018 list of "The Hot 100's All-Time Top 600 Songs". "Melody in A Major" Dawes, a Chicago bank president and amateur pianist and flautist, composed the tune for the flute in 1911 in a single sitting at his lakeshore home in Evanston. He played it for a friend, the violinist Francis MacMillen, who took Dawes's sheet music to a publisher. Da ... It's All In The Game (Merle Haggard Album)
''It's All in the Game'' is the thirty-ninth studio album by American country music artist Merle Haggard backed by the Strangers, released in 1984 by Epic Records. The album peaked at number 1 on the ''Billboard'' Top Country Albums chart. Recording and composition Haggard's only album from 1984 is dominated with songs co-written with Freddy Powers. The country singer's career was booming during this period like it hadn't since the early seventies, and ''It's All in the Game'' continued this roll, producing three #1 hits. The first of these, " Let's Chase Each Other Around the Room," recalls the shuffling rhythm of his 1981 hit " Big City" and finds the narrator attempting to playfully reignite the passion of his marriage. The other two chart toppers, " A Place to Fall Apart" (co-written with Willie Nelson and featuring Janie Fricke on background vocals) and the love song " Natural High," have a softer vocal approach more indicative of the album's overall sound. It's All In The Game (Nena Album)
''Feuer und Flamme'' (German for "Fire and Flame", with the additional figurative meaning of "great enthusiasm"), released in 1985, is the third album by German pop band Nena and the fourth studio album of its singer, Gabriele "Nena" Kerner. The album was a success, reaching in Germany. Prompted by the success of ''99 Luftballons'' (1984), which included English-language versions of songs from the band's first two albums, Nena recreated ''Feuer und Flamme'' in English as ''It's All in the Game'' (1985), with lyrics by Canadian singer Lisa Dalbello. The experiment failed commercially and was not repeated with the band's next album. Gabriele Kerner recorded a new bilingual German-English version of " Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime" with Kim Wilde in 2002. The duet became a big hit in many European countries, including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The fifth and final single from the album was "Du kennst die Liebe nicht", however, for the sing ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
