Israeli War Cabinet
The Israeli war cabinet was formed on 11 October 2023, five days after the beginning of the Gaza war. The opposition party National Unity joined the thirty-seventh government led by Benjamin Netanyahu as prime minister. Negotiations began upon the outbreak of the war. On 13 June 2024, former Chiefs of the General Staff Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot exited the war cabinet, leaving Netanyahu, Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant, Ron Dermer and Aryeh Deri as its only members. The thirty-seventh government of Israel is the current Cabinet of Israel, cabinet of Israel, formed on 29 December 2022, following the 2022 Israeli legislative election, Knesset election on 1 November 2022. New Hope (Israel)
New Hope (), officially known as New Hope – The National Right (), and also translated as New Hope – The United Right, is a centre-right to right-wing national-liberal political party in Israel. History The party was formed by former Likud MK and former minister Gideon Sa'ar on 8 December 2020, with Sa'ar subsequently submitting his resignation from the Knesset on 9 December. On the same day, Derekh Eretz MKs Yoaz Hendel and Zvi Hauser announced that they would join New Hope. Likud MKs Yifat Shasha-Biton, Michal Shir, Sharren Haskel, and Ze'ev Elkin later joined as well. Ron Dermer
Ronald Dermer (; born April 16, 1971) is an Israeli politician and diplomat serving as the Minister of Strategic Affairs since 2022 and as head of the negotiations for hostages release since February 2025. He served as the Israeli Ambassador to the United States from 2013 to 2021. Early life Dermer was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida to Jay Dermer, a lawyer from New York who was Mayor of Miami Beach from 1967 to 1971 after defeating Elliott Roosevelt and Yaffa, née Rosenthal, born in Mandate Palestine. Her parents, Joseph and Rivka, had fled growing antisemitism in Poland and Germany in the 1930s. A few years after the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, the family emigrated to Florida. Dermer visited Israel during his childhood to see his grandmother Rivka who returned to live there after Joseph’s death. Yoav Gallant
Yoav Gallant (; born 8 November 1958) is an Israeli politician and former military officer who served as Ministry of Defense (Israel), minister of defense between 2022 and 2024. Gallant was an officer in the Southern Command (Israel), Southern Command of the Israel Defense Forces, serving in the Israeli Navy. In January 2015 he entered politics, joining the new Kulanu party. After being elected to the Knesset he was appointed Ministry of Construction (Israel), minister of construction. At the end of 2018 he joined Likud, shortly after which he became Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, minister of Aliyah and Integration. In 2020 he was appointed Ministry of Education (Israel), minister of education, and the following year became minister of defense. Gadi Eisenkot (; born 19 May 1960), also spelt Eizenkot, is an Israeli general and politician from the Israeli National Unity (Israel), National Unity party. He served as the 21st Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces from 2015 to 2019 and from 2023 to 2024, as a minister without portfolio in Israel's Thirty-seventh government of Israel, unity government. Eisenkot, who grew up in Eilat, pursued maritime studies and later served in the IDF's Golani Brigade. He holds a B.A. in History from Tel Aviv University and a post-graduate degree in Political Science from Haifa University. Married with five children, he resides in Herzliya. The Chief of the General Staff, also known as the Commander-in-Chief of the Israel Defense Forces (, abbreviated ''Ramatkal''—), is the professional head of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
