Israel In The Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Israel was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Together We Are One", composed by Eddie Butler, with lyrics by Orly Burg and Osnat Zabag, and performed by Butler himself. The Israeli participating broadcaster, the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA), selected its entry through the national final Kdam Eurovision 2006. The competition took place on 15 March 2006 and featured eleven entries. "" performed by Eddie Butler emerged as the winner after achieving the highest score following the combination of votes from four regional juries and a public vote. The song title was later translated from Hebrew to English for Eurovision and was titled "Together We Are One". Butler had represented as part of the band Eden. Israel Broadcasting Authority
The Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA; ) was Israel's public broadcaster from 1948 to 2017, succeeded by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation. Yael Bar Zohar (; ) is an Israeli television host, model, singer and actress. Early life and career Bar Zohar was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, to a Jewish family. Ehud Manor
Ehud Manor (; born Ehud Weiner; July 13, 1941 – April 12, 2005) was an Israeli lyricist, translator, poet and radio and TV personality. He is widely considered to have been Israel's most prolific lyricist of all time, having written or translated over 1,000 songs. In 1998, he was awarded the Israel Prize for his exceptional contributions to Israeli music. Biography Ehud Weiner (later Manor) was born in Binyamina, in what is now Israel. Shlomo Gronich (; born January 20, 1949) is an Israeli composer, singer, songwriter, arranger, and choir conductor. Biography Shlomo Gronich grew up in a musical family in Hadera. He holds a B.A. in Music Education from Tel Aviv Educational Academy, and a B.A. in Composition from the Mannes School of Music, New York City. He is married to Michal Adler, a harmonica player. Svika Pick (, born Henryk Pick, 3 October 1949 – 14 August 2022) was an Israeli pop singer, songwriter, composer, and television personality. Avi Peretz (in Hebrew אבי פרץ) sometimes transliterated Avi Perez (born 9 December 1966) is an Israeli singer of Jewish Mizrahi music (in Hebrew מוזיקה מזרחית i.e., Muziqa mizrahit, meaning Oriental music). Biography Perez grew up in Bat Yam, Israel. His grandfather was a famous poet in Morocco. From a young age Peretz learned to play the keyboard, and began his music career at age 13. Rama Messinger (; 3 September 1968 – 18 August 2015) was an Israeli actress, voice actress and singer. Biography Messinger was born and raised in Ramat Ef'al, Israel. She was named after her maternal uncle, Rami Gil (Mogilnik) who was an Israeli Air Force pilot who fell a year before she was born. She studied at the Thelma Yellin High School of Performing Arts. Maya Bouskilla (or Buskila; ; born November 9, 1977) is an Israeli singer. Early life Buskila was born in Netanya, Israel, to a religious family of Moroccan-Jewish descent. She was discovered by a scout for Helicon Records, one of Israel's best selling labels, who heard her singing in a karaoke bar. Four years later, Roberto Ben-Shushan and Eyal Malul became her managers. Bouskilla claimed to still be religious when she was called up for mandatory service at the age of 18 and received a deferment. In April 2008, after criticism of her draft-dodging, Bouskilla voluntarily enlisted to the Israeli military for a short period, reportedly so she could set a good example for other young Israeli women.
