Isle Of View (Jimmie Spheeris Album)
''Isle of View'' is an album by American singer-songwriter Jimmie Spheeris. It was his debut album and was released in 1971 by Columbia Records. The album did not have any success on the charts, but it was a FM radio hit, and through it Spheeris developed a cult following. Background Spheeris wrote the lyrics for the album while his was staying with his friend Richie Havens, in his West Village apartment. Spheeris recalled that it was a "very magical time" for him. He said "an awkward line between innocence and the world's sleaziest ways was drawn and I seemed to hang delicately between the two". He went on to say that the songs were primarily based on his "struggle for freedom, and they were dreams". His former bass player, Johnny Pierce said Clive Davis discovered Spheeris when he was 22 years old. Xanth ( ), also known as ''The Magic of Xanth'', is a series of fantasy novels by author Piers Anthony. The novels are set in the fantasy world of Xanth, in which magic exists and every human has a magical talent. The books have been noted for their extensive use of wordplay and puns. Anthony has stated that he has kept the series going as long as he has (currently 48 books) because the ''Xanth'' novels are "just about all that publishers want" from him. Since the peak of its popularity in the 1970s and 1980s, the series has been criticized by many scholars and reviewers for what they characterize as misogynist and pedophilic undertones; one reviewer has called it the "most divisive non-media publishing enterprise in all of fantasy". Midlake
Midlake is an American folk rock band from Denton, Texas, formed in 1999. The band consists of Eric Pulido, McKenzie Smith, Scott Lee, Eric Nichelson, Jesse Chandler, and Joey McClellan. In 2012, vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter Tim Smith left the band during the recording of its fourth studio album. David Gahr (September 18, 1922 – May 25, 2008) was an American photographer, known for his work with famous musicians. Biography David Gahr was born on September 18, 1922, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Russian immigrant parents. Ludovico Ariosto (, ; ; 8 September 1474 – 6 July 1533) was an Italian poet. He is best known as the author of the romance epic '' Orlando Furioso'' (1516). The poem, a continuation of Matteo Maria Boiardo's ''Orlando Innamorato'', describes the adventures of Charlemagne, Orlando, and the Franks as they battle against the Saracens with diversions into many sideplots. The poem is transformed into a satire of the chivalric tradition. Ariosto composed the poem in the ottava rima rhyme scheme and introduced narrative commentary throughout the work.
