Addu City
Addu City is a city in Maldives that consists of the inhabited islands of Addu Atoll, the southernmost atoll of the archipelago. Addu City is the second-largest urban area in Maldives, in terms of population, and is one of the two urban areas to get the status of "city" other than the capital city, Malé, and Fuvahmulah. Addu City has 6 districts. They are Hithadhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Maradhoo, Feydhoo, Meedhoo and Hulhudhoo. These divisions are naturally islands, but are well connected. Fatima Kabafa'anu (fl. 1704), was a Sultana regent of the Maldives. She was the consort of Sultan Ibrahim Mudzhiruddine of the Maldives (r. 1701–1704), and briefly regent herself during the minority of her son in 1704. Maldives was turned into a Sultanate in 1153 when the Buddhist King Dhovemi converted to Islam. Prior to that the Maldives was a Buddhist Kingdom, a Hindu Kingdom and before that a matriarchal society with each atoll ruled by a chief queen according to some accounts or by others, several theocratic societies ruled by priests known as ''Sawamias'' of heliolatric, selenolatric and astrolatric religions.
