Irvine (Amtrak Station)
The Irvine Transportation Center (shortened to Irvine Transit Center and also known as Irvine station) is a transit center in the Irvine Spectrum district of southeastern Irvine, California, United States. Located on the southwest end of the decommissioned Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, it is served by Amtrak California's ''Pacific Surfliner'' route, two Metrolink commuter rail lines, and multiple Orange County Transportation Authority (OC Bus) bus routes. The $13 million Irvine Transportation Center opened on June 1, 1990, when Irvine was officially added to the Amtrak timetable as a stop on the route of the '' San Diegan'' (later renamed the ''Pacific Surfliner''). On August 25, 2008, a new four-story parking structure was opened to expand available parking at the station by 1,500 spots. Irvine () is a Planned community, planned city in central Orange County, California, United States, in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. It was named in 1888 for the landowner James Irvine. The Irvine Company started developing the area in the 1960s and the city was formally incorporated on December 28, 1971. The city had a population of 318,629 as of June 2025. Mission Viejo ( ; language change, corruption of ; ) is a Commuter town, commuter city in the Saddleback Valley in Orange County, California, United States. Mission Viejo is considered one of the largest Planned community, master-planned communities ever built under a single project in the United States and is rivaled only by Highlands Ranch, Highlands Ranch, Colorado in size. Lake Forest, California
Lake Forest is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 85,858 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. Lake Forest incorporated as a city on December 20, 1991. Prior to incorporation, the community had been known as El Toro. Following a vote in 2000, Lake Forest expanded its city limits to include the master-planned developments of Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills. This expansion brought new homes and commercial centers to the northeastern boundary of the city. Lake Forest has two lakes from which the city gets its name. Los Angeles Union Station is the main railroad station in Los Angeles, California, and the largest passenger rail terminal in the Western United States. San Juan Capistrano station is a train station in San Juan Capistrano, California, United States served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system, and Metrolink, a commuter railroad. The station has a single side platform serving the single track of the SCRRA's Orange Subdivision. The station is served by Amtrak's ''Pacific Surfliner,'' and with few exceptions is the last stop in Orange County; a few trains stop at San Clemente Pier before crossing into San Diego County.
