Irish In Britain
Irish in Britain is a charity and national membership network founded in 1973 for Irish community groups throughout Britain. Originally established as the Federation of Irish Societies and rebranded in 2013 as Irish in Britain, the organisation has a membership of over 100 Irish charities, societies and groups. The activities of the membership range from welfare, housing, support and advice services to cultural activities, sports, arts, music, theatre and language. Irish in Britain provides member support services and has a strategic role in representing issues common to its membership and the wider diaspora. Irish in Britain works closely with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Ireland and the Irish in Britain. Martin Docherty-Hughes
Martin John Docherty-Hughes (born 21 January 1971) is a Scottish National Party politician. He was previously the Member of Parliament (MP) for West Dunbartonshire from 2015 until his defeat in 2024. He has also served as SNP Defence Spokesperson from 2023 to 2024. Early life and education Docherty-Hughes was raised by his parents in Clydebank, and began working from the age of 16. He studied at the Glasgow College of Food Technology, now City of Glasgow College, graduating with an HND in Business Administration in 1997. Irish (Standard Irish: ), also known as Irish Gaelic or simply Gaelic ( ), is a Celtic language of the Indo-European language family. It is a member of the Goidelic languages of the Insular Celtic sub branch of the family and is indigenous language, indigenous to the island of Ireland. Joseph Kevin McNamara (5 September 1934 – 6 August 2017) was a British Labour politician who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for almost 40 years. Early life Born in West Derby, Merseyside, he was educated by the Irish Christian Brothers at St Mary's College, Crosby. He studied for an LLB at the University of Hull.
