Irish Cricket Team In Zimbabwe In 2023–24
The Ireland cricket team toured Zimbabwe in December 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The T20I series formed part of Ireland's preparation for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The first T20I was the first international match to be played under flood lights in Zimbabwe. Ireland won the T20I series 2–1 to seal their first away T20I series win against a Full Member team. Ireland won the ODI series by 2–0, after first match was washed out by rain. It was Ireland's first men's ODI series victory in Zimbabwe. Sikandar Raza
Sikandar Raza Butt (; born 24 April 1986) is a Pakistani-born Zimbabwean international cricketer. He is an all-rounder, who bats right-handed and bowls right arm off-spin. He made his international debut for Zimbabwe in May 2013 and is the first player from his country to score a T20I century. He is the current captain of Zimbabwe T20I team. Early life Raza was born in Sialkot to a Punjabi-speaking Kashmiri Muslim family. He studied at the Pakistan Air Force Public School Lower Topa for three years and aspired to be a Pakistan Air Force pilot, but his dreams were cut short when he failed a vision test that was mandatory for selection in the Pakistan airforce at that time. In 2002, Raza moved with his family to Zimbabwe. He went to Scotland, where he pursued a bachelor's degree in software engineering at the Glasgow Caledonian University. Day/night Cricket
Day/night cricket, also known as floodlit cricket, is a cricket match that is played either totally or partially under floodlights in the evening. The first regular cricket to be played under floodlights occurred during World Series Cricket, unsanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC), attracting large crowds to see some of the world's best players compete in Australia and the West Indies. In 1979, when the ICC and World Series Cricket came to an understanding, the first floodlit One Day International was played, also in Australia. Floodlit cricket has since been played around the world, although England was slow to take it up due to their climate. Milton Shumba (born 19 October 2000) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut for Zimbabwe against Eastern Province in the 2016 Africa T20 Cup on 30 September 2016. Prior to his T20 debut, he was part of Zimbabwe's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his first-class debut for Rising Stars in the 2017–18 Logan Cup on 12 November 2017. Blessing Muzarabani
Blessing Muzarabani (born 2 October 1996) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Rising Stars in the 2017–18 Logan Cup on 4 October 2017. Early life Blessing was born in Murewa, a small town in Zimbabwe. Later his family moved to Highfield, a suburb in Harare. At the age of seven, he started cricket training at Takashinga Cricket Club. This is where his talent was spotted by coaches. In 2017, he was chosen by Tatenda Taibu for the Rising Stars Academy to tour England for three months. Tony Munyonga (born 31 January 1999) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Rising Stars in the 2017–18 Logan Cup on 12 November 2017. He made his List A debut for Rising Stars in the 2017–18 Pro50 Championship on 17 April 2018. The Rising Stars won the tournament, and Munyonga was named the player of the series. Wellington Pedzisai Masakadza (born 4 October 1993) is a Zimbabwean cricketer who has played first-class and limited overs matches for the Mountaineers and the Mashonaland Eagles. Takudzwanashe Kaitano (born 15 June 1993) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He made his international debut for the Zimbabwe cricket team in July 2021. Luke Mafuwa Jongwe (born 6 February 1995) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He is a right-handed batter and right-arm medium pace bowler. Jongwe was selected for three ODIs against South Africa. He made his One Day International debut at Harare Sports Club against South Africa on 17 August 2014, where he bowled six overs and gave away 45 runs without taking a wicket and then scored 19 runs in a losing cause. Faraz Akram (; born 3 October 1993) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. Akram was born in Saudi Arabia to Pakistani parents, and made his international debut for the Zimbabwe cricket team in November 2020. Personal life Faraz Akram was born on 3 October 1993 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to Pakistani parents. Raised in the Middle East and Pakistan, he moved with his family to Zimbabwe in 2000, where his diplomat father worked at the Pakistani embassy. Akram attended Westridge High School in Harare.
