Irene Hedlund
Irene Hedlund (born 8 March 1947) is a Danish book illustrator and children's writer. Since 1981 she has illustrated books by popular Danish authors such as Thøger Birkeland and Klaus Rifbjerg. In addition to writing and illustrating her own books, she has designed signs and posters for LEGO, the Danish Bibliographic Centre and the Danish Road Safety Council. Biography Born on 8 March 1947, Hedlund attended the Danish Design School in Copenhagen, graduating in 1982. Her first published illustrations were in Thøger Birkeland's ''Rasmus og Hængekøjen'' in 1981 which she managed to complete in just one month. In 1983, as author of ''Evige Bjerg og de tre stærke kvinder'', she gave herself a whole year to create the illustrations to her satisfaction. The Japanese story is aptly enhanced with illustrations containing bamboo, mountrains and gnarled trees. Decorative frames add to the attractiveness of her pictures. Thøger Birkeland
Thøger Birkeland (20 March 1922 – 6 April 2011) was a Danish teacher and writer mostly known for his children's book Children's literature or juvenile literature includes stories, books, magazines, and poems that are created for children. Klaus Rifbjerg
Klaus Rifbjerg (15 December 1931 – 4 April 2015) was a Danish writer. He authored more than 170 novels, books and essays. In 1965 he co-produced the film '' 4x4'' which was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival. Biography Rifbjerg was born in Copenhagen and grew up on the island of Amager, which is part of the city, the child of two teachers. Later he studied English and literature, in Copenhagen and for a year in the US at Princeton University. His breakthrough was in 1958 with the novel ''Den kroniske Uskyld''. It was made into a film in 1985, directed by Edward Fleming. From that time on he published more than 100 novels as well as poetry and short story collections, plays, TV and radio plays, film scripts, children's books and diaries. Rifbjerg is also known for having been a journalist and critic. Bent Faurby
Bent Faurby (born 21 March 1937) is a Danish author and schoolteacher who has specialized in children's literature, writing both fiction and informative works covering a variety of subjects. Biography Born in Kolding, Faurby attended Silkeborg Seminarium (teacher training college) where he received his diploma in 1960. In 1962, he took up a teaching assignment in Upernavik in northwest Greenland which later led to two factual books about Greenland in 1996. Faurby got his first book published in 1976. His many Basal reader, reading books and easy readers for children and young people address everything from footballers to snakes.
