Irene Costa
Irene Manuela Ferreira da Costa (born 1972) is a Portuguese social worker and politician. As a member of the Portuguese Socialist Party (PS), she was elected as a deputy in the Portuguese Assembly of the Republic in January 2022, representing Braga, and was re-elected in 2024. Career Costa was born on 8 March 1972. She comes from Vizela in the north of Portugal and is married to Jose Carlos Pinto da Costa. She has a degree in social work and from 2004 to 2022 worked for the northern regional health service of Portugal. In 2020 she was elected unanimously as president of the Lions Club of Vizela. Political career In 2017 Costa became a deputy in the Vizela municipal assembly, initially as a supporter of the Vizela Sempre (Always Vizela) movement. In her second term in this role she was elected as a member of the Socialist Party (PS). Braga (Assembly Of The Republic Constituency)
Braga is one of the 22 multi-member constituencies of the Assembly of the Republic, the national legislature of Portugal. The constituency was established in 1976 when the Assembly of the Republic was established by the constitution following the restoration of democracy. It is conterminous with the district of Braga. The ''Teatro Nacional de São Carlos'' () (''National Theatre of Saint Charles'') is an opera house in Lisbon, Portugal. It was opened on June 30, 1793 by Queen Maria I as a replacement for the Tejo Opera House, which was destroyed in the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. Vizela () is a municipality in the Braga District in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 23,736, in an area of 24.70 km². The present mayor is Vitor Hugo Salgado, elected as an independent. The municipal holiday is March 19. History In August 2000, an outbreak of Legionaires' disease occurred in Vizela. A total of 11 persons infected with Legionnaires' disease, all of them inhabitants of Vizela, were admitted to the Guimarães Hospital. There were no fatalities. 2022 Portuguese Legislative Election
Early legislative elections were held on 30 January 2022 in Portugal to elect members of the Assembly of the Republic to the 15th Legislature of the Third Portuguese Republic.
