Aboutaleb Talebi Gargari (, April 10, 1945 – July 21, 2008) was an Iranian bantamweight freestyle wrestler. He won bronze medals at the 1966, 1967 and 1969 world championships and 1968 Summer Olympics. Talebi lost his father to a sudden disease at the age of 11, and started working at a carpet shop next year to help his family. He married in 1968 and had four children. This is a list of world records in Olympic weightlifting. These records are maintained in each Olympic weightlifting#Competition, weight class for the snatch (weightlifting), snatch lift, clean and jerk lift, and the total for both lifts. The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) restructured its weight classes in 1993, 1998, 2018 and 2025 nullifying earlier records. The men's discus throw competition at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico took place on October 14–15. Twenty-seven athletes from 19 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Al Oerter of the United States, the nation's fifth consecutive and 12th overall victory in the men's discus throw. Oerter finished his run of four victories in the event, the first person to win four consecutive gold medals in any individual Olympic event (Carl Lewis in the long jump and Michael Phelps in the 200 metre individual medley swimming did so later; Paul Elvstrøm had won previously four individual gold medals in sailing but had been forced to switch events when the programme changed, and Kaori Icho would later win four individual gold medals in wrestling but changed weight classes during her run). Jalal Keshmiri
Sayed Jalal Ali "Joe" Keshmiri Mirzamolimadail, better known as Jalal Keshmiri (, b. 25 March 1938 – d. 6 February 1999) was an Iranian shot putter and discus thrower. Between 1966 and 1974 he won two gold, three silver and one bronze medal in these events at the Asian Games. He competed in the discus throw at the 1964 and 1968 Olympics, where he placed 27th and 20th respectively. Biography Keshmiri started as an association football goalkeeper. During one game, a practicing athlete threw a discus that almost hit Keshmiri's head. Angry Keshmiri threw it back and was noticed by the athletics coach. The LA84 Foundation (known until June 2007 as the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles) is a private, nonprofit institution created by the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee to manage Southern California's endowment from the 1984 Olympic Games. Under an agreement made in 1979, 40 percent of any surplus was to stay in Southern California, with the other 60 percent going to the United States Olympic Committee.
