Iosif Davidovich Amusin (; French: ''Joseph Amoussine'', November 29, 1910, Vitebsk – June 12, 1984, Leningrad) was a Soviet Union, Soviet historian, oriental studies, orientalist, hebraist and papyrologyst, and a specialist in the history of the Ancient Near East and Qumran studies. History He studied at the history department of the Leningrad State University under professors such as Vasily Struve (historian), Vasily Struve and Alexander Tyumenev. Amusin was twice (in 1928 and 1938) arrested and sentenced for Zionist connections and "anti-Sovietism, anti-Soviet" activity (acquitted posthumously in 1989). Iosif Samuilovich Shklovsky (sometimes transliterated ''Josif, Josif, Shklovskii, Shklovskij''; ; 1 July 1916 – 3 March 1985) was a Soviet astronomer and astrophysicist. He is remembered for his work in theoretical astrophysics and other topics, as well as for his 1962 book on extraterrestrial life, the revised and expanded version of which was co-authored by American astronomer Carl Sagan in 1966 as ''Intelligent Life in the Universe''. He won the Lenin Prize in 1960 and the Bruce Medal in 1972. Asteroid 2849 Shklovskij and the crater Shklovsky (on the Martian moon Phobos) are named in his honor. Liebling (formerly Brist; ; or ''Kedvenc'') is a commune in Timiș County, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Cerna, Iosif and Liebling (commune seat). Geography Liebling is located in the southwest of Timiș County, from Timișoara and from Ciacova, the nearest town. Hydrography Liebling belongs to the Timiș river basin. Tofoaia Valley crosses Liebling to the north, flowing into the Timiș River through the Birda-Lanca Canal. Ștefan Octavian Iosif (; 11 October 1875 – 22 June 1913) was an Austro-Hungarian-born Romanian poet and translator. Life Born in BraÈ™ov, Transylvania (part of Austria-Hungary at the time), he studied in his native town and in Sibiu before completing his education in Paris. While in France, he met Dimitrie Anghel, who would become a long-time friend. In Bucharest, Iosif, Anghel and Emil Gârleanu created a literary society (1909), the Romanian Writers' Society; Iosif later became associated with '' Sămănătorul''. His friendship with Anghel came to an abrupt end after the two writers fell in love with the same woman, Natalia Negru. She was first married to Iosif, but divorced him in order to remarry Anghel. The latter was drawn to despair by her infidelities, and committed suicide in 1914. Iosif Dan (commonly known as Dan Iosif, 14 October 1950 – 5 December 2007) was a Romanian politician who was a leading figure in the 1989 Romanian Revolution, leading protests in Bucharest in the final days of Nicolae Ceauşescu's 25-year rule. Iosif Rotariu (born 27 September 1962) is a Romanian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He debuted in Divizia A with Politehnica Timișoara in 1981. He won the league championship with Steaua București in 1987, 1988, 1989, 1997 and 1998, and won the Romanian Cup with the same club in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1997.
