Ioan Popovici (brigadier General)
Ioan Popovici (23 August 1865 – 1953, in Sighet) was a Romanian general assigned to the general staff headquarters, during World War I. He attended the (Military Infantry and Cavalry School) in Bucharest from 1885 to 1887. Afterward he rose through the ranks until he became a brigadier general in 1916 as World War I was raging, engulfing Romania. He was known as "Epure" to distinguish him from another Romanian general with the same name. Ioan Popovici (divisional General)
Ioan Popovici (16 August 1857 – 6 August 1956) was a Romanian general and commander of the Romanian 1st Army Corps from 1916 to 1918, during World War I. Born in Galați, he attended the (Military Infantry and Cavalry School) in Bucharest from 1879 to 1881. Afterward he rose through the ranks until he became a divisional general in 1916 as World War I was raging, engulfing Romania. He was known as "''Provincialul''" ("The Provincial") because of his ineptitude. In World War I, he took command on 3 September 1916 of the First Army Corps, which was subordinated to the First Army, under the command of Ioan Culcer. The 1st Corps comprised the 13th Division (under the command of and after 10 September of ), the 23rd Division ( Matei Castriș), and the 1st ''Călărași'' Brigade (Oprescu). Inmates Of Sighet Prison
The Inmates are a British pub rock band, which formed after the split of The Flying Tigers in 1977. In 1982, they had a medium-sized international hit with a cover of The Standells' "Dirty Water", and a UK Top 40 hit with their cover of Jimmy McCracklin's track, " The Walk". "Dirty Water" reached number 51 in the United States in January 1980. The song led directly to them recording their debut album, ''First Offence'', produced by Vic Maile for Radar Records. Two further albums were quickly recorded; ''Shot in the Dark'' again produced by Vic Maile, and ''Heatwave in Alaska'' produced by Stuart Coleman. Constantin Kirițescu (September 3, 1876 – August 12, 1965) was a Romanian zoologist, educator and historian. Born and schooled in Bucharest, he occupied successive posts in the Education Ministry, with education being a running theme of his diverse interests.
