Inverleven Distillery
Inverleven distillery was a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Dumbarton, Scotland. History Inverleven distillery was built in 1938 as part of the Dumbarton complex by Hiram Walker & Sons with the intention of providing spirit to be used for their Ballantine's blend. Hiram Walker sold the distillery to Allied Distillers. Pernod Ricard acquired Allied Domecq in 2005 and added it to his Chivas Brothers subsidiary. Inverleven was closed in 1991. Lowland Single Malts
Lowland single malts are single malt whiskies distilled in Scotland's Scottish Lowlands, lowlands. The region is home to distilleries such as: Annandale distillery, Annandale in Annan, Dumfries and Galloway, Annan; Auchentoshan distillery, Auchentoshan near Clydebank; Bladnoch distillery, Bladnoch in Galloway; Daftmill distillery, Daftmill in Fife; Girvan distillery, The Girvan Distilleries near Girvan; and Glenkinchie distillery near Edinburgh. Distillation, also classical distillation, is the process of separating the component substances of a liquid mixture of two or more chemically discrete substances; the separation process is realized by way of the selective boiling of the mixture and the condensation of the vapors in a still. Distillation can operate over a wide range of pressures from 0.14 bar (e.g., ethylbenzene/ styrene) to nearly 21 bar (e.g.,propylene/propane) and is capable of separating feeds with high volumetric flowrates and various components that cover a range of relative volatilities from only 1.17 ( o-xylene/ m-xylene) to 81.2 (water/ ethylene glycol). Dumbarton
Dumbarton (; , or ; or , meaning 'fort of the Britons (historical), Britons') is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, on the north bank of the River Clyde where the River Leven, Dunbartonshire, River Leven flows into the Clyde estuary. In 2006, it had an estimated population of 19,990. Dumbarton was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Strathclyde, and later the county town of Dunbartonshire. Chivas Brothers is a Scottish company that distills Scotch whisky. It is owned by Pernod Ricard since 2001. The company was founded in 1786, with its home being in the Strathisla distillery at Keith, Moray in Speyside, Scotland, and is the oldest continuously operating Highland distillery.
