International University Of Management
The International University of Management (IUM) is a private, state-recognized university based in Windhoek, Namibia. It has campuses in Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Ongwediva, Nkurenkuru and Eenhana. History The university was founded by David Namwandi in 1994 with one professor and one student in Windhoek North. Namwandi also served as IUM's vice-chancellor from 2001 until he was appointed deputy Minister of Education in 2010. The IUM vice-chancellor position was taken over by Namwandi's wife, Virginia. In 2002 IUM it was accorded university status. It opened another campus in the Dorado Park neighbourhood of Windhoek in April 2011. Shekutaamba Väinö Väinö Nambala, popularly known as S V V Nambala, was born from a peasant family at Onewawa village, Omuntele constituency, in Ondonga kingdom in the Oshikoto Region today, on the 5 th August 1952. Windhoek (; ; ) is the capital and largest city of Namibia. It is located in central Namibia in the Khomas Highland plateau area, at around above sea level, almost exactly at the country's geographical centre. Pendukeni "Penny" Iivula-Ithana (born 11 October 1952) is a Namibian politician who served as the secretary general of SWAPO, Namibia's ruling party, from 2007 to 2012. She was a member of the Constituent Assembly of Namibia in 1989 and has been a member of Parliament and member of cabinet since independence in 1990. Iivula-Ithana served in several ministerial positions over three decades. Her last ministerial post was in the interior ministry. Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba (born 18 August 1935) is a Namibian politician who served as the second president of Namibia from 21 March 2005 to 21 March 2015. The Ministry of Education (MOE) is a department of the Namibian government. Established at Namibian independence in 1990, the first Namibian education minister was Nahas Angula. Osmund Damian Mwandemele (born 2 May 1950) is a Namibian professor and vice chancellor for the International University of Management since 1 August 2023. He previously served as pro-vice chancellor for academic affairs and research at University of Namibia from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2015. Early life and education Mwandemele was born on 2 May 1950 in Mbinga district, Tanzania. He obtained a Bachelor of Science honours degree in education in 1976 as well as a Master of Sciences in Plant Breeding 1978, all from University of Dar es Saalam, Tanzania.
