The ''International Journal of Surgery'' (IJS), formerly known as ''The Journal of Surgery'', is a peer-reviewed medical journal of surgery established in 2003. The journal has been published by Elsevier since 2005. The journal is affiliated with the Association of Surgeons in Training, the New York Surgical Society and with the Chinese chapter of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association. The journal is published monthly, and articles become open-access after an embargo period of 12 months. Thomas Starzl
Thomas Earl Starzl (March 11, 1926 – March 4, 2017) was an American physician, researcher, and expert on organ transplants. He performed the first human liver transplants, and has often been referred to as "the father of modern transplantation." A documentary, entitled "Burden of Genius," covering the medical and scientific advances spearheaded by Starzl himself, was released to the public in 2017 in a series of screenings. Thomas Schlich (born 8 June 1962) is a German-Canadian historian of medicine known for his work on the history of surgery. Education Thomas Schlich studied medicine at the University of Marburg, Germany, and worked at the centre of internal medicine, department of Nephrology as a physician. He holds an MD research degree (1990) from the Philipps-University of Marburg, and was awarded habilitation (1998) by the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg. Harold Ellis (surgeon)
Harold Ellis CBE FRCS (born 13 January 1926) is an English retired surgeon. He was Emeritus Professor of Surgery in the University of London and most recently a professor in the Department of Anatomy & Human Sciences at the King's College London School of Medicine. He qualified as a doctor from the University of Oxford in July 1948, the same month the National Health Service began. From 1950 to 1951 he undertook national service as a captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps, afterwards continuing his training as a surgical registrar in London, Sheffield and Oxford before taking up a post as senior lecturer in the University of London. In 1962, he took up the foundation chair of surgery at the Westminster Hospital, a post which he held until his retirement from practice in 1989. Scopus is Elsevier's abstract and citation database launched in 2004. Scopus covers nearly 36,377 titles (22,794 active titles and 13,583 inactive titles) from approximately 11,678 publishers, of which 34,346 are peer-reviewed journals in top-level subject fields: life sciences, social sciences, physical sciences and health sciences.
