Interim Morgan Administration
The interim Rhodri Morgan administration was a temporary government of Wales formed on 9 February 2000 by Rhodri Morgan, following the resignation of Alun Michael as First Secretary, which was pre-empted by a vote of no-confidence by Plaid Cymru. Rhodri Morgan was named as Acting First Secretary on 9 February and confirmed as the permanent First Secretary on 15 February 2000. This Ministry ran until Morgan formed a coalition government with the Liberal Democrats in October 2000. This administration was always viewed as temporary and Labour had mooted looking for a coalition partner following their perceived poor showing in the 1999 election. The Welsh Government ( ) is the Executive (government), executive arm of the Welsh devolution, devolved government of Wales. The government consists of Cabinet secretary, cabinet secretaries and Minister of State, ministers. The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care () is a cabinet position in the Welsh Government, currently held by Jeremy Miles since September 2024. The minister is responsible for the running of the NHS Wales, National Health Service in Wales, all aspects of public health and health protection in Wales, the Food Standards Agency in Wales, post-graduate medical education and any charges for NHS services. Thomas Middlehurst (born 25 June 1936) is a British retired politician who served as Flintshire County Council, Leader of Flintshire County Council from 1996 to 1999 and Minister for Education (Wales), Assembly Secretary for Education and Training in the National Assembly for Wales from 1999 to 2000. A member of the Welsh Labour, Labour Party, he was Assembly Member (Welsh Assembly), Assembly Member (AM) for Alyn and Deeside (Senedd constituency), Alyn and Deeside from 1999 until his retirement in 2003. Andrew David Davies (born 5 May 1952) is a Welsh politician who represented the constituency of Swansea West in the National Assembly for Wales from 1999 to 2011. He is a member of Welsh Labour.
