Int Base
Gold Base (also variously known as Gold, Golden Era Productions, Int Base or Int) is the ''de facto'' international headquarters of the Church of Scientology, located north of San Jacinto, California, United States, about from Los Angeles. The heavily guarded compound comprises about fifty buildings surrounded by high fences topped with blades and watched around the clock by security personnel, cameras and motion detectors. The property is bisected by a public road, which is closely monitored by Scientology with cameras recording passing traffic. The property had previously been a popular Inland Empire spa resort called Gilman Hot Springs, which was established in the 1890s. However, the resort went bankrupt in the late 1970s due to changes in American vacation habits. Gilman Hot Springs, California
Gilman Hot Springs is an unincorporated community in Riverside County, California. It lies along California State Route 79, adjacent to the San Jacinto campus of Mt. San Jacinto College. Geography Potrero Creek exits Massacre Canyon and joins the San Jacinto River at Gilman Hot Springs, just above California State Route 79, with Potero Creek delivering a large amount of sediment that creates an alluvial fan as well as periodically contributing to the flooding of the roadway. History Pre-settlement, it was the site of a village called ''Ivah'' that was occupied by what are now called the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians. This village was depopulated by a smallpox epidemic "early in the 19th century". Gilman Hot Springs was a hot springs resort from the late 1880s until 1978. E-meter
The E-Meter (also electropsychometer and Hubbard Electrometer) is an electronic device used in Scientology that allegedly "registers emotional reactions". After claims by L. Ron Hubbard that the procedures of Auditing (Scientology), auditing, which used the E-Meter, could help heal diseases, the E-Meter became the subject of litigation. Since then, the Church of Scientology publishes disclaimers declaring that the E-Meter "by itself does nothing", is incapable of improving health, and is used solely for spiritual purposes. The Hole (Scientology)
"The Hole" is the name of a detention buildingalso known as the SP Hall, the SP Hole, the A to E Room, or the CMO Int trailersoperated by the Church of Scientology on Gold Base, a private compound near the town of Hemet in Riverside County, California. Dozens of its senior executives have been confined within the building for months or years. The book vividly describes his scary escape from a California compound in 2005, followed by his wife's escape, the prison-like security of the compound which housed the organization's international management, and the physical and mental abuse of the staff members within. The author goes into detail about the privileged life style of Scientology leader David Miscavige, the over-the-top special treatment of Tom Cruise, and his own interactions with Cruise.
