Institute Of Contemporary British History
The Institute of Historical Research (IHR) is a British educational organisation providing resources and training for historical researchers. It is part of the School of Advanced Study in the University of London and is located at Senate House. The institute was founded in 1921 by A. F. Pollard. History Foundation The IHR was founded in 1921 by British historian Albert Pollard with the help of Eliza Jeffries Davis. Appointed professor of Constitutional History at University College London in 1903, his inaugural address, a year later, argued for the need for a postgraduate school of historical research. With a generous and anonymous donation of £20,000 from Sir John Cecil Power in 1920 towards the founding of the institute, Pollard's dream was realised. The institute was formally opened by H. A. L. The Institute for Historical Review (IHR) is a United States–based nonprofit organization that promotes Holocaust denial. It is considered by many scholars to be central to the international Holocaust denial movement. Self-described as a "historical revisionist" organization, the IHR promotes antisemitism, antisemitic viewpoints and has links to several Neo-Nazism, neo-Nazi and neo-fascist organizations. The group was founded in 1978 in Torrance, California, Torrance, California, by David McCalden and Willis Carto, and is headquartered in Fountain Valley, California, Fountain Valley, California. Joanne Clare Fox (born 1978) is a British historian specialising in the history of film and History of propaganda, propaganda in twentieth-century Europe. Miles Taylor, FRHistS (born 19 September 1961) is a historian of 19th-century Britain. He is also an academic administrator. Since 2004, he has been a professor of history at the University of York and between 2008 and 2014 he was director of the University of London's Institute of Historical Research. Sir John Goronwy Edwards (14 May 1891 – 20 June 1976) was a Welsh historian. Early life Edwards, who was proficient in Welsh before he could read English, was educated at Holywell Grammar School before matriculating at Jesus College, Oxford, in 1909. His 1913 essay on Danby gained him proxime accessit in the Stanhope prize competition. Career After obtaining his degree in 1913, he worked for a time at Manchester University under T. F. Tout. During the First World War he served with the Royal Welch Fusiliers in France and obtained the rank of captain.
