Vivienne Parry
Vivienne Mary Hunt Parry (born Vivienne Mary Hunt Mills on 4 June 1956 in Portsmouth) is a British science journalist and author, currently employed as head of engagement at Genomics England. She is most well known for presenting BBC Television science programme ''Tomorrow's World'' and ''Panorama''. She is also a regular contributor to ''The Guardian'' newspaper's online presence. Early life Parry was educated at St Swithun's School, Winchester, an independent girls' school. She studied Zoology at Bedford College, London graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1978, majoring in immunology and genetics which she took at University College London. Career Her first job was as National Organiser of the mother and baby charity Birthright, the appeal arm of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from 1979 to 1994. Institutional Review Board
An institutional review board (IRB), also known as an independent ethics committee (IEC), ethical review board (ERB), or research ethics board (REB), is a committee that applies research ethics by reviewing the methods proposed for research to ensure that they are ethical. Such boards are formally designated to approve (or reject), monitor, and review biomedical and behavioral research involving humans. They often conduct some form of risk-benefit analysis in an attempt to determine whether or not research should be conducted. The purpose of the IRB is to assure that appropriate steps are taken to protect the rights and welfare of humans participating as subjects in a research study. Deborah Bowman (academic)
Deborah Bowman is a British academic, Professor of Ethics and Law at St George's, University of London. Bowman has written widely about medical ethics in both academic and popular publications, including the British Medical Journal, Medical Education, Medical Teacher, Die Psychiatrie, International Journal of Risk and Safety in Medicine and JAMA. St George's, University of London (legally St George's Hospital Medical School, informally St George's or SGUL), is a University located in Tooting in South London and is a constituent college of the University of London. St George's has its origins in 1733, and was the second institution in England to provide formal training courses for doctors (after the University of Oxford). St George's affiliated with the University of London soon after the latter's establishment in 1836. St George's is closely affiliated to St George's Hospital and is one of the United Hospitals.
