∞, also known as ''Infinity'', is an album by French musician Yann Tiersen released in 2014. Languages Unlike previous works, Infinity has no songs written in French. Instead, they are written in English, Faroese language, Faroese, Icelandic language, Icelandic, and Breton language, Breton. This corresponds with an interview that Tiersen had with Port Magazine, where he expressed his appreciation for Breton culture over French culture. Reception ''Infinity'' received some acclaim from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 74 based on 15 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Yann Tiersen
Yann Pierre Tiersen (born 23 June 1970) is a French Breton musician and composer. His musical career is split between studio recordings, music collaborations, and film soundtracks songwriting. His music incorporates a large variety of classical and contemporary instruments, primarily the electric guitar, the piano, synthesisers, and the violin, but he also includes instruments such as the melodica, xylophone, toy piano, harpsichord, piano accordion, and even a typewriter. Tiersen is often mistaken for a soundtrack composer; he himself states that "I'm not a composer and I really don't have a classical background," but his real focus is on touring and recording studio albums, which are often used for film soundtracks. Tracks taken from his first three studio albums were used for the soundtrack of the 2001 French film ''Amélie''. Gareth Jones (born 1954) is an English music producer and engineer notable for working with Depeche Mode, Einstürzende Neubauten, Wire and Erasure. Early life Jones was born in Warrington, Lancashire. When he was young he played different instruments but became more interested in music technology. He owned a simple valve tape recorder and began experimenting with tape editing. Career Jones trained at the BBC and began working at Pathway Studios in North London. While at Pathway he recorded Madness' first single, "The Prince", in 1979 and mixed John Foxx's 1980 album '' Metamatic''. When Foxx established his own London recording studio, The Garden, Jones began working there, and it was at this studio that he first worked with Depeche Mode, contributing to their 1983 album '' Construction Time Again'', the first of three albums in a row that Jones would do with the band. Aidan John Moffat (born 10 April 1973) is a Scottish vocalist and musician, and member of the band Arab Strap. Early life Moffat was born and raised in Falkirk, Scotland. The first album he bought was ''Elvis Sings for Kids'' by Elvis Presley. Whilst at Falkirk High School, he listened to such groups as Pixies, Dinosaur Jr. and Slint. His first ever gig was at the age of 16, and saw David Byrne at Glasgow Barrowlands in 1989. In 1990, aged 17, he was expelled from school, with no Higher Qualifications. He then worked for four years at an independent record shop called Sleeves Records, resigning one morning in 1996, due to having a hangover and wanting to go home.
