Indrek Sirel
Indrek Sirel (born 16 January 1970) is a general of the Estonian Defence Forces. Early life Sirel was born in Tallinn, Estonia. Career Sirel graduated from the Moscow Military Academy in June 1991 and joined the Soviet Union Army. One of his early assignments included being a Platoon Leader in the Baical Military District. He joined the Estonian Defence Forces in June 1993 and has gone through several different courses both in Estonia and in the United States before his post as head of the Estonian Army. Artur Tiganik
Artur Tiganik (born 13 January 1971) is an Estonian Brigadier General who served as the Deputy Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces. He previously served as the Commander of the Estonian Land Forces. Biography Tiganik was born in Loksa, Estonia. After graduating from the Basic Officers' course in Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School, he returned to Estonia and commanded units from platoon level up to battalion of the Kalev Infantry Battalion since 1992 to 2000. After graduating from Baltic Defence College, he continued his career as Commander of the Scouts Battalion from 2001 to 2004. Estonian Land Forces
The Estonian Land Forces ( et, Maavägi), unofficially referred to as the Estonian Army, is the name of the unified ground forces among the Estonian Defense Forces where it has an offensive military formation role. It is currently the largest Estonian military branch with the average size during peacetime of approximately 6,000 soldiers, conscripts, and officers. The ''Maavägi'' development priorities are the capability to participate in missions outside the national territory and the capability to perform operations to protect the territory of Estonia, also in co-operation with the Allies. Johannes Kert
Johannes Kert (3 December 1959 – 4 March 2021) was an Estonian politician and military officer. He served as the Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces from 1996 until 2000. Order Of The Cross Of The Eagle
The Order of the Cross of the Eagle ( et, Kotkaristi teenetemärk; french: Ordre de la Croix de l'Aigle) was instituted in 1928 by the Estonian Defence League to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Estonian independence. It was adopted as a state order in 1936. The Order of the Cross of the Eagle is bestowed to give recognition for military services and services in the field of national defence. It is awarded in civil and military divisions. The awards made to members of the military are denoted by the addition of crossed swords to the decoration. Major General
Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The disappearance of the "sergeant" in the title explains the apparent confusion of a lieutenant general outranking a major general, whereas a major outranks a lieutenant. In the Commonwealth and in the United States, when appointed to a field command, a major general is typically in command of a division consisting of around 6,000 to 25,000 troops (several regiments or brigades).
