Ghana, officially the Republic of Ghana, is a country in West Africa. Abutia, also: ''Abutia Area'', is a Kingdom in West Africa, in the East of the Republic of Ghana, Volta Region. History Abutia is a traditional area in Ghana with Teti, Agorve and Kloe as its three (3) main towns. In colonial time Abutia was part of Togoland as German Colony from 1884 to 1916 and British Protectorate from 1916 to 1945. Aburi Botanical Gardens
Aburi Botanical Gardens is a garden in Aburi in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Today, in the 21st century, one cannot talk about horticulture in Ghana and West Africa without talking about the Aburi Botanical Gardens. The Garden occupies an area of 64.8 hectares. It was opened in March 1890 and was founded by Governor William Brandford-Griffith and Dr. John Farrell Easmon, a Sierra Leonean medical doctor. Before the garden was established, it was the site of a sanatorium built in 1875 for Gold Coast government officials. During the governorship of William Brandford-Griffith, a Basel missionary and Jamaican Moravian, Alexander Worthy Clerk, supervised the clearing of land around the sanatorium to start the Botanic Department. In 1890 William Crowther, a student from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, was appointed the garden's first curator. 2022 Bogoso Explosion
On 20 January 2022, a large explosion occurred in Apiate, a suburban community near Bogoso in the Western Region of Ghana, after a truck transporting mining explosives collided with a motorcycle. The explosion leveled the community, killing 17 people and injuring 200. Explosion The explosion occurred on the Tarkwa-Bogoso-Ayamfuri road on 20 January 2022 after a truck operated by Maxam transporting 10 tons of mining explosives between Tarkwa and Chirano collided head-on with a motorcycle. The motorcycle was then driven over by the truck which was en route to the Kinross Gold-owned Chirano Gold Mine. The collision occurred at around 1:25 pm with the explosion coming about 45 minutes later. Emergency services had not reached the scene before the vehicle exploded. A police spokesman said that the truck was escorted by a Maxam security car in front of it and a police vehicle behind it.
