Lambert Hillyer (July 8, 1893 – July 5, 1969) was an American film director and screenwriter. He is best known today for his many western features, his horror films ''The Invisible Ray (1936 film), The Invisible Ray'' and ''Dracula's Daughter'', and the first ''Batman (serial), Batman'' serial. Biography Lambert Harwood Hillyer was born July 8, 1893, in Tyner, Indiana (his 1946 resumé amended this to South Bend, Indiana). His mother was character actress Lydia Knott. A graduate of Drake University, Drake College, he worked as a newspaper reporter and short-story writer, then as an actor in vaudeville and stock theater. Richard Michael Wessel (April 20, 1913 – April 20, 1965) was an American film actor who appeared in more than 270 films between 1935 and 1966. He is best remembered for his only leading role, a chilling portrayal of strangler Harry "Cueball" Lake in '' Dick Tracy vs. Cueball'' (1946), and for his appearances as comic villains opposite The Three Stooges. Biography Wessel was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His burly frame established him as a character player in feature films of the 1930s and '40s. At first he was a bit player; in Laurel and Hardy's '' Bonnie Scotland'' (1935), he was a blacksmith's assistant (with no dialogue). Gradually his roles became larger and he was given a few lines of dialogue, as in '' Yankee Doodle Dandy'' where he played a veteran soldier. Anthony W. Coldeway (August 1, 1887 – January 29, 1963) was an American screenwriter who had an extensive career from 1910 through 1954.
