''In Pursuit of Peace'' () is a Singaporean period drama television series set in Japanese-occupied Singapore during World War II, and was first aired on MediaCorp Channel 8 from 9 March to 11 May 2001 on Friday evenings. The series is based on the 1999 book ''Eternal Vigilance: The Price of Freedom'' published by Asiapac Books which contains numerous eyewitness accounts of survivors of the Japanese occupation of Southeast Asia. In contrast with ''The Price of Peace'', a similar television series aired on MediaCorp Channel 8 in 1997, ''In Pursuit of Peace'' focuses more on developing the main characters' stories, while the former places greater emphasis on the historical aspects of the Japanese occupation. Qi Yuwu (born 28 November 1976) is a Chinese actor based in Singapore. He is a permanent resident of Singapore and a contracted artiste under Beijing Enlight Media Group. The Malayan Peoples' Anti-Japanese Army (MPAJA) was a communist guerrilla army that resisted the Japanese occupation of Malaya from 1941 to 1945 in World War II. Composed mainly of ethnic Chinese guerrilla fighters, the MPAJA was the largest anti-Japanese resistance group in Malaya. Founded during the Japanese invasion of Malaya, the MPAJA was conceived as a part of a combined effort by the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) and the British colonial government, alongside various smaller groups to resist the Japanese occupation. Nick Shen
Nick Shen (born 26 August 1976) is a Singaporean actor, businessman and host. He was a full-time Mediacorp artiste from 1999 to 2012. In 2011, Shen started the company Tok Tok Chiang Wayang to promote Chinese opera in Singapore. Early life Shen has a younger brother. He attended St. Thomas Secondary School and had pursued a Diploma in Mass Communication at the Management Development Institute of Singapore. Yamashita Tomoyuki
was a Japanese general in the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. Yamashita led Japanese forces during the invasion of Malaya and Battle of Singapore. His conquest of Malaya and Singapore in 70 days earned him the sobriquet "The Tiger of Malaya" and led to the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill calling the ignominious fall of Singapore to Japan the "worst disaster" and "largest capitulation" in British military history. Lim Boon Keng (; 18 October 1869 – 1 January 1957) was a Peranakan physician who advocated social and educational reforms in Singapore in the early 20th-century. He also served as the president of Xiamen University in China between 1921 and 1937.
