Imbaba Station
Imbaba is a station in the Rod El Farag Corridor branch of Cairo Metro Line 3 that was opened on 1 January 2024 as part of Phase 3B of the line. It is located in the dense neighborhood of Imbaba and serves nearby streets and areas. It is an elevated station that is located right next to railway tracks. Access to the station is provided by escalators, elevators and ramps. Cairo Metro
The Cairo Metro (, lit. "Cairo Tunnel Metro" or ) is a rapid transit system in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It was the first of the three full-fledged metro systems in Africa and the first in the Middle East to be constructed. It was opened in 1987 as Line 1 from Helwan to Ramses Square with a length of . As of 2013, the metro carried nearly 4 million passengers per day. As of 15 May 2024, the Cairo Metro has 84 stations of which 5 are transfer stations, with a total length of . Giza Governorate
Giza ( ') is one of the Subdivisions of Egypt#Governorates, governorates of Egypt. It is in the center of the country, situated mostly on the west bank of the Nile River opposite Cairo. Cairo Metro Line 3
Cairo Metro Line 3 is a main east-west line of the Cairo Metro rapid transit system in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It has a length of with 34 stations (21 underground, 2 at grade, 11 elevated), all built and operated in seven phases between 2007 and 2024. As of 2024, the line is operational between Rod El Farag Corridor in Imbaba and Cairo University in El-Mohandessin and Dokki on the west bank of the Nile, and the Adly Mansour terminus on the north eastern outskirts of Cairo. The line crosses the River Nile twice at the western branch between Kit Kat and Zamalek and the eastern branch between Zamalek and downtown Cairo. Side Platforms
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a railway platform, platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or bus rapid transit, transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Side platforms may result in a wider overall footprint for the station compared with an island platform, where a single width of platform can be shared by riders using either track. Imbaba
Imbaba ( ', ) is a working-class neighbourhood in northern Giza, Egypt, located west of the Nile and northwest of and near Gezira Island and downtown Cairo, within the Giza Governorate. The district is located in the historic upper Nile Delta, and is part of the Greater Cairo metropolitan area. Imbaba is the List of city districts by population density, most densely populated city subdivision in the world. Imbaba is also the name of an adjacent Subdivisions of Egypt#Municipal divisions, administrative centre () in rural Giza Governorate, which has 18 villages in its jurisdiction. Ramses Station
Ramses Railway Station (), also called Misr Station (), is the main railway station of Cairo, Egypt. The name is derived from the Ancient Egyptian pharaoh Ramses II, whose statue was erected by Nasser on the square there in 1955. History The original railway station was built as the terminal of the first rail link from Alexandria to Cairo in 1856. The current building was erected in 1892 and upgraded in 1955. In January 2001, it underwent a major modernisation. In early 2011, following the Egyptian Uprising, Ramses station was fully upgraded and air conditioned with new marble flooring across the station and the addition of escalators.
