Imad Al-Alami
Imad Khalil al-Alami (195630 January 2018), also known as Abu Hammam, was a senior Hamas official. One of the group's co-founders, he joined Hamas in the late 1980s. After being exiled in 1994, al-Alami became a key link between Gaza and the Syrian and Iranian governments, functioning as Hamas's first representative in Tehran. Al-Alami returned to Gaza in 2012, and was the Deputy Chief in the Gaza Strip from 2013 to 2017. Biography Al-Alami was born in Gaza City, and he earned a degree in civil engineering from Alexandria University. He joined Hamas in the late 1980s, and is considered a founding member of the group. Al-Alami was exiled by Israel to Lebanon in 1991 or 1994. In Lebanon, al-Alami and other leaders in exile learned tactics such as suicide bombing from Hezbollah. The Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List, also known as the SDN List, is a United States government sanctions/embargo measure targeting U.S.-designated terrorists, officials and beneficiaries of certain authoritarian regimes, and international criminals (e.g. drug traffickers). The Great Mosque of Gaza, also known as the Great Omari Mosque, is a mosque located in Gaza City, Palestine. It is the largest and oldest mosque in all of Gaza. Believed to stand on the site of an ancient Philistine temple, the site was used by the Byzantines to erect a church in the 5th century. After the Rashidun conquest in the 7th century, it was transformed into a mosque. The Great Mosque's minaret was toppled in an earthquake in 1033. In 1149, the Crusaders built a large church. It was mostly destroyed by the Ayyubids in 1187, and then rebuilt as a mosque by the Mamluks in the early 13th century. It was destroyed by the Mongols in 1260, then soon restored. Al-Shifa Hospital ( ''Mustašfā aš-Šifāʾ'' ) was the largest medical complex and central hospital in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, located in the neighborhood of northern Rimal in Gaza City. The hospital was first established by the government of Mandatory Palestine in 1946, and expanded during the Egyptian and later Israeli occupations.
