Ili Turk People
The Ili Turks are a Turkic peoples, Turkic unrecognized ethnic groups in China, unrecognized ethnic group in China native to Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in Northern Xinjiang of China, and Kazakhstan. They call themselves "Turk" or "Zhonghua Minzu". Their oral history says they came from the Ferghana Valley, Uzbekistan. The distinct Ili Turki language belongs to the Karluk languages, but is listed as Uzbek language, Uzbek by Chinese authorities. The Ili Turks are nomadic and good at herding. Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture
Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture ( kk, Іле Қазақ автономиялық облысы) (also as Yili) is an autonomous prefecture for Kazakh people in Northern Xinjiang, China, one of five autonomous prefectures in Xinjiang. Yining City is its capital. It is bordered by Mongolia, Russian Federation and Republic of Kazakhstan on the northeast to southwest, with a boundary line of 2,019 kilometers. Including Khorgas, Bakhty and Jeminay, there are 9 ports of entry at the national level. With the unique location advantage, Ili has been an important commercial hub and international channel of opening up to the west. The autonomous prefecture covers an area of 268,591 square kilometers, accounting for 16.18% of Xinjiang. The Karluk or Qarluq languages are a sub-branch of the Turkic language family that developed from the varieties once spoken by Karluks. Many Middle Turkic works were written in these languages. Ferghana Valley
The Fergana Valley (; ; ) in Central Asia lies mainly in eastern Uzbekistan, but also extends into southern Kyrgyzstan and northern Tajikistan. Ili Turki Language
Ili Turki is an endangered Turkic language spoken primarily in China. In 2007, it was reported that there were around 30 families using it in China. Classification Ili Turki appears to belong to the Chagatay group of Turkic languages, although it exhibits a number of features that suggest a Kipchak substratum.
