Idaho Legislature
The Idaho Legislature consists of the upper Idaho Senate and the lower Idaho House of Representatives. Idaho is divided into 35 legislative districts, which each elect one senator and two representatives. There are no term limits for either chamber. The crossing of upper and lower house districts into a single constituency is found in only seven U.S. state legislatures: Idaho, Arizona, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Washington. Carrie Semmelroth is an American politician and academic serving as a member of the Idaho Senate from the 17th district. She assumed office on November 24, 2021, succeeding Alison Rabe. Boise (, , ) is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Idaho and is the county seat of Ada County. John Gannon (American Politician)
John L. Gannon is an American attorney and politician serving as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives from the 17A district. Elected in 2012, he previously represented the same district from 1990 to 1992. Early life and education Gannon was born in Ross, California. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis and a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Sue Chew
Susan Beatrice Chew (March 31, 1958 – April 17, 2024) was an American politician who was the Democratic Idaho State Representative from 2006 on, representing District 17 in the B seat. Early life and education Sue Chew was born in California on March 31, 1958, to a family of trailblazers. Her father was one of the first lawyers in California to be of Chinese descent. Chew earned her bachelor's degree in biology and natural resources from University of California, Berkeley, and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of California, San Francisco. Illness and death Chew was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2023, and died from this disease in April 2024, at the age of 66. Elections 2020 Chew was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Ada County is located in the southwestern part of Idaho, United States. As of the 2021 United States census estimate, the county had a population of 511,931, making it by far the state's most populous county; it is home to 26.8% of the state's population. Elliot Werk
Elliot Werk (born April 16, 1957) is a Democratic politician from Boise, Idaho in the United States. From 2002 until 2015 he served as the Idaho State Senator from District 17, which is based in the Boise Bench neighborhood. Werk was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and emigrated to the United States when he was seven years old. He became a naturalized United States citizen while in college. After living in various locations throughout the United States, Werk moved to Idaho in the late 1990s with his family. Werk was elected to the Idaho Senate in 2002, defeating Republican incumbent Grant R. Ipsen and Libertarian candidate David H. Slack. He was reelected to a sixth term in 2012 by a nearly 2-1 margin. William 'Bill' M. Killen (born November 5, 1938, in Olympia, Washington) was a Democratic member of the Idaho State Representative from 2006 to 2012. Early life, education and career. Killen earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University and earned his law degree from University of Idaho College of Law.
