Icichthys Australis
The southern driftfish or ragfish, ''Pseudoicichthys australis'', is a species of medusafish. The Catalog of Fishes places it in the monospecific genus ''Pseudoicichthys'', but as of 2024 FishBase FishBase is a global species database of fish species (specifically finfish). It is the largest and most extensively accessed online database on adult finfish on the web.
retains it in the genus '' Icichthys'' together with '' I. lockingtoni''. It is found around the world in all southern oceans between latitudes 50° S and 60° S, from the surface down to 2,000 m. Its length is from 35 to 80 cm.

Richard Lee Haedrich
Richard is a male given name. It originates, via Old French, from Old Frankish and is a compound of the words descending from Proto-Germanic language">Proto-Germanic ''*rīk-'' 'ruler, leader, king' and ''*hardu-'' 'strong, brave, hardy', and it therefore means 'strong in rule'. Nicknames include "Richie", " Dick", "Dickon", " Dickie", "Rich", "Rick", "Rico (name), Rico", " Ricky", and more. Richard is a common English (the name was introduced into England by the Normans), German and French male name. It's also used in many more languages, particularly Germanic, such as Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, and Dutch, as well as other languages including Irish, Scottish, Welsh and Finnish. Richard is cognate with variants of the name in other European languages, such as the Swedish "Rickard", the Portuguese and Spanish "Ricardo" and the Italian "Riccardo" (see comprehensive variant list below). Medusafish
Medusafishes are a family, Centrolophidae, of scombriform ray-finned fishes. The family includes about 31 species. They are found in temperate and tropical waters throughout the world. Young '' Icichthys lockingtoni'' specimens are abundant in the coastal waters of the north Pacific, where they are often found in association with jellyfish, which provide them with protection from predators and opportunities to scavenge the remains of the jellyfishes' meals. The oldest known fossil member of the group known from articulated remains is '' Butyrumichthys'' from the earliest Ypresian of the Fur Formation in Denmark. Slightly older fossil otoliths of the species ''"Mupus" sinuosus'' are also known from the Selandian of Denmark. Genera The following genera are classified within the family Centrolophidae: * '' Centrolophus'' Lacépède, 1802 * '' Hyperoglyphe'' Günther, 1859 * '' Icichthys'' Jordan & Gilbert, 1880 * '' Psenopsis'' Gill, 1862 * '' Schedophilus'' Cocco, 1839 * ...

Eschmeyer's Catalog Of Fishes
Catalog of Fishes is a comprehensive on-line database and reference work on the scientific names of fish species and genera. It is global in its scope and is hosted by the California Academy of Sciences. It has been compiled and is continuously updated by the curator emeritus of the CAS fish collection, William N. Eschmeyer. The taxonomy maintained by the Catalog of Fishes is considered authoritative and it is used as a baseline reference for instance by the broader global fish database FishBase, which involves cross-references to the Catalog's information for all accepted taxa. the searchable catalogue contains entries for about 58,300 fish species names, about 33,400 of which are currently accepted (valid), and for some 10,600 genera (5,100 valid).Biodiversity Information Project ...

Monospecific
In biology, a monotypic taxon is a taxonomic group (taxon) that contains only one immediately subordinate taxon. A monotypic species is one that does not include subspecies or smaller, infraspecific taxa. In the case of genera, the term "unispecific" or "monospecific" is sometimes preferred. In botanical nomenclature, a monotypic genus is a genus in the special case where a genus and a single species are simultaneously described. Theoretical implications Monotypic taxa present several important theoretical challenges in biological classification. One key issue is known as "Gregg's Paradox": if a single species is the only member of multiple hierarchical levels (for example, being the only species in its genus, which is the only genus in its family), then each level needs a distinct definition to maintain logical structure. Otherwise, the different taxonomic ranks become effectively identical, which creates problems for organizing biological diversity in a hierarchical system. ...

Icichthys Lockingtoni
''Icichthys lockingtoni'', commonly known as the medusafish, is a species of centrolophid ray-finned fish native to the northern Pacific Ocean, where it ranges from Japan and the Gulf of Alaska to central Baja California in Mexico. It typically occurs at a depth of 0 to 91 m (0 to 299 ft), although it has been reported from as deep as 900 m (2953 ft). Young individuals of the species are abundant offshore, often in association with jellyfish in a symbiotic relationship that is likely commensal. The species reaches 46 cm (18.1 inches) in total length Fish measurement is the measuring of individual fish and various parts of their anatomies, for data used in many areas of ichthyology, including taxonomy and fishery biology.
