Iceland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, with "Power (Diljá song), Power" performed by Diljá. The Icelandic broadcaster (RÚV) organised the national final ''2023'' in order to select the Icelandic entry for the contest. The national final consisted of three shows: two semi-finals on 18 and 25 February 2023 and a final on 4 March 2023. Iceland was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 11 May 2023. Performing during the show in position 7, "Power" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the second semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. Söngvakeppnin (known from 1986–1989 as Söngvakeppni sjónvarpsstöðva and in 1981, 1983 and 1990–2012 as Söngvakeppni sjónvarpsins, literally "The Television's Song Contest") is an annual music competition organised by Icelandic public broadcaster Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV). Friðrik Dór Jónsson (born 7 October 1988) is an Icelandic R&B and pop singer-songwriter. He began his career forming the band Fendrix with his schoolmates while in grade 8. He played drums in the band. The band took part in Músíktilraunir in 2003. He studied in Verzlunarskóli Íslands, a commerce college in Iceland, taking part in a number of musicals at the college. His first solo record was in 2009, with the song "Hlið við hlið" that was played heavily on FM 957 reaching number 2 on the station's charts. Langi Seli og Skuggarnir is an Icelandic rock band formed in 1988. The band plays exclusively from its catalogue of original music, which can be characterised as powerful rockabilly, with a particularly modern approach. Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir (born 29 April 1981) is an Icelandic actress and television presenter who is the assistant director of RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster.
