Ian Thomas (baseball)
Ian Drew Thomas (born April 20, 1987) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers. Career Amateur and independent leagues Thomas is a graduate of Kellam High School. He played college baseball at Louisburg College and Virginia Commonwealth University. After going undrafted in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, he signed with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the Northern League. In 2010, he was the Northern League Rookie Pitcher of the Year, after going 5–1 with a 1.64 earned run average (ERA). After three years with Winnipeg, he signed with the York Revolution of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball in 2012. Ian Thomas (cricketer)
Ian James Thomas (born 9 May 1979) is a Welsh cricketer who played for Glamorgan as a left-handed opening batsman from 1999 to 2005. Thomas, along with Graeme Hick, held the record for highest score in the Twenty20 Cup from 2004 to 2006, after scoring 116 not out to lead Glamorgan to a win with three balls to spare against Somerset Sabres in the group stages of the 2004 tournament. Thomas was born in Newport, Monmouthshire. On his County Championship debut in 2000, Thomas made 82 in a drawn match against Essex, described by the BBC reporter as a "dream debut". It was to be his highest score in first class cricket, and he only made two higher scores in any form of the game, the aforementioned Twenty20 century and 93 against a Durham Cricket Board XI in the C&G Trophy. Ian Thomas (born June 6, 1996) is an American professional football tight end for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Indiana Hoosiers, and was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL draft. Early life Thomas's mother Martha died due to liver and kidney failure before Thomas was nine. His father died a year later due to a heart attack. College career Thomas graduated from Nassau Community College in 2016, and joined Indiana for his junior year. Thomas played all 13 games during his first year at Indiana, acting as a blocking tight end and recording only three catches. Ian Thomas (1942 – 16 February 2011), was a motorcycle speedway promoter and team manager, who managed the England national speedway team during 1980. Biography Thomas was born in Ilkley, West Yorkshire and left school aged 15. After failing to become a professional speedway rider he took up various jobs before finding his way into the promotion of speedway. Thomas and his business partner Jeff Brownhut founded Workington Comets after a successful application was made by for a licence to race at Derwent Park for the 1970 season. The move is credited in helping the Workington Town rugby league club avert financial troubles. The rugby pitch required moving 25 yards sideways to accommodate the speedway track.
